It's not a viable business model because the people who control what you're allowed to say on Twitter are the same people who control what conservatives are allowed to say. If I can't make hateful comments on Parler, it's a worthless platform.
Yeah, might as well be on Twitter if it's just going to be Twitter.
The interesting part of Twitter is mucking with the NPCs anyways. If I want to "chat" with based people, I can do that here or somewhere else.
Can't say I disagree, which makes me very grateful for sites like .Win and Gab.com who continue to host the sites despite not generating huge profit (probably none, in the case of .win)
I am thoroughly whelmed by this. Also I like how they tried calling it a "free" speech platform, like that guy who claims he's vegetarian yet goes out of his way to suggest that bacon isn't a meat.
Or a vegetarian eating cheese when there is cow stomach in it (rennet). American "cheese" product probably uses bacterial derived enzymes though, but any cheese that is actually worth eating uses rennet because the flavour cannot be reproduced with enzymes.
...What site?
Wait, was that the site that wanted real ID for talking shit on the internet?
We discussed it around here several years ago and shortly decided then that their ID requirements were suspect. I doubt KIA2 has many Parler subscribers.
"Come in to my Parlour said the Spider to the Fly" - obvious Fed Honeypot.
Probably doesn't help that by all stereotypes Conservatives have less need and desire to be criminally online on social media to the extent The Left does.
Not that there aren't plenty who are, but its not a "exactly equal need to fulfill but for the opposite side" as these alt-sites imply by their founding. So between that and being spread between like 7 different sites, there will never be enough conglomerated mass to be worth it.
I thought it already did when the totally not politically motivated deplatforming of them off of the app stores and web hosting services.
Kayne West would have saved it. Oh, well.
What stopped him?

Crazy, evidently.
That place had a chance before Amazon fucking killed it. It was looking like a decent alternative for a while
Apparently it is only a temporary shut down.
Parler to be acquired by digital media company Starboard, shut down temporarily

I'm pretty sure it's still up. It's more of a libertarian site so, as long as they have that userbase, they should be fine.
I don't think much of these alt-tech sites are making much profit, though.

Conservatives definitely cannot do alt platforms worth a damn..... it just ends up being purely a political platform. Not much casual stuff and no porn. If you are a video game content maker, you probably not gonna waste time posting on these alt sites that just have right wing political commentary.
Its a losing formula.
Parler just could not compete, especially now that Twitter is less censorus.
Speaking of competition, the only way to compete in video hosting would be to allow literally anything legal, effectively becoming liveleak 2.0 while also allowing porn hosting.
Parler was a blatant honeypot and an echochamber network to boot. Nothing of value was lost.
Now we just need the other blatant honeypot that is a echochamber of the dumbest clowns(Truth Social) to die.
So what? Parler never recovered from the attacks by corporate media whores. Let's see how Substack Notes does.
Any platform that censors any sort of comment short of a direct physical threat is worthless.
Anyone who actually accepts the concept of "hate speech" is either an idiot or conditioned by the left intelligentsia.
I honestly thought it would become a DeSimptis shill site.
Parler had extensive censorship and was actually funded by Trump donor: Rebekah Mercer.
Lots of tech problems lately.
Sort of like Rumble, the UI and user experience is pretty unrefined and lacking lots of features.
There were also rumours last week that the admins started outright deleting posts that broke ToS or were fedpost-y, going above the jannies and content creators heads.
Locals allows "anything but porn" but does allow balldo reviews. They've hosted election-questioning and covid content. Their video backend is through Rumble in fact.
What?
Laughs in Rekieta chat
Locals belongs to Rumble (they got acquired back in 2021)
Yeah, the ad-driven internet is already dying off. Half the reason for the Adpocolypse on Youtube was because they literally didn't have enough ads to deliver to people in the first place.
Not really. The "Adpocalypse" was just an excuse to deplatform people and censor POVs that the Left/Google/Regime doesn't like
Google/YouTube has always had the power to give advertisers 100% control over where their ads could be displayed. (And, in fact, advertisers who are making significant spends on YT already had this power).
