From what I understand the accusation is that the money he gave Stormy Daniels falls under: " crime to conspire to promote a candidacy by unlawful means"
What is the angle here, is he trying to turn a misdemeanor that was prescribed to something much bigger?
How can he do that without first having a trial for the misdemeanor itself? Isn't Trump innocent until proven guilty? In that case they must first convict him on the "unlawful means" before charging him on "crime to conspire to promote a candidacy by unlawful means".
What do you guys think it will happen and how do you see it going down?
It's a leftist DA with a leftist jury and a leftist judge who all hate Trump. The law doesn't really come into play here. He will be found guilty, no matter what.
That seems likely but I hope it does not happen.
It probably will happen, and when it does it will accelerate things dramatically. This is a clear demonstration to the right, that coexistence is neither possible nor desirable.
Hope is not your friend right now. This is the end of the USA. The globohomo clownworld system is fully in charge now. The elites running that system hate you and want you dead. Think and act accordingly.
From what I understand of the charges, it'll be a struggle to get them to stick - even if this court convicts they wouldn't stand up to appeal.
That's not the point of it, though, I suspect. Trump's innocence or not has nothing to do with anything. The point is that the Biden admin will not crack down on an NY DA that's going after a Biden political opponent for any reason at all. And if NY fails, Trump's going to be subject to frivolous suits from other blue states until they manage to take him off the ballot in 2024.
The process is the punishment.
That’s the end game I’m seeing.
Trump's the victim, they're charging him for improperly accounting for money he paid to a blackmailer. Just like getting a parking ticket for having your car stolen.
The Dems are pushing this case to bait the dumbest elements of the GOP base to nominate Trump again in 2024.
The Dems will indict Trump in many more frivolous cases to increase GOP base outrage and influence them to rally around a martyred Trump.
If Trump is the nominee, the Dems will not fight to remove him off the ballot.
He supercharged Dem turnout and galvanizes their base while alienating center right suburban voters. Dems would love to run against Trump.
The Dems will wait until they win the 2024 election and they will then ensure Trump is convicted in 2025.
Only way Trump avoids spending his last days in prison is if he loses the primary and another GOP nominee narrowly wins against Biden and protects Trump from Dem prosecution.
And putting desantis on the ballot will not fix anything. Take your /r/cons talking point back there. 2020 was a test run to seehow well the mail in ballots and voting machines can be rigged. How else could an election day turn into months? Not to mention the number fuckery that happened overnight.
I agree that abortion is a stupid hill to die on though. But gop is known for sabotaging itself to grift its base for more pity bux.
After the recent Dem win in Wisconsin supreme court it is clear Trump has no path to victory in 2024 and it is clear that it will also be extremely difficult for DeSantis to win 2024. The difference is that DeSantis is not viscerally hated like Trump and regardless of how much the media tries to do so, they can never match the level of hatred Trump invokes in people.
Calling elections rigged constantly demoralizes some of our voters and they don't even bother to vote. This way the Dems just win automatically. We need to stop this self-fulfilling prophecy.
The slim path to victory in 2024 relies on embracing ballot harvesting in swing states, not nominating Trump again and not pushing any abortion bans more restrictive than 15 weeks.
I am not optimistic because a lot of the base is sadly retarded.
Oh you sweet summer child. They'll do the same to ron like they do to trump. The difference neing trump has money to pay lawsuits. And now his got Marty status thanks to the witch hunts.
If you have anyone to blame, blame gop for being limp wristed. They focus on abortion and whatever red herrings, and pretty much ignore important topics, like voter security and putting a lid on the ukraine bailouts.
Voter security is a very strong topic right now as people have absolutely no confidence in the process, well people generally confidence in our justice system as well too.
It'll take something truly drastic for things to change back to normal. Expecting a corrupt government to fix itself is just insanity at this point.
The media has already tried to paint him as Deathsantis. He still won by 19 points in Florida even after those smears.
The difference between DeSantis and Trump is Trump is not disciplined and he constantly shoots his mouth off and validates the bullshit lies the media pushes about him.
Don't fucking talk about voter security when our clown base won't vote in crucial elections to protect it. We lost Wisconsin supreme court over abortion and because clowns in the drift less region cry that elections are rigged and won't even bother voting.
We need our candidates to win to push more election integrity measures. A lot of our rural voters are retards who don't understand this simple fact. They will cry that Trump won 2020 but won't do anything to make elections more secure by voting for candidates that push for more election integrity.
FL is different. You cant compare a state to the entirely of the country. Not to mention the exodus of disenfranchised reps and cons flocking to fl, so its solid red.
And he media also shoots itself in the foot everytime they clickbait trump. The latest stint being another blow on their integrity(with their leftist base). I'll give you him attacking desantis. That is retarded.
Theirs your answer. That and gop left their candidate to die. Seriously what the fuck is the gop doing yesterday? Making empty gestures on visiting taiwan.
And fuck you. We had a lot of poll watchers who still volunteer in this races. We can only do so much against women voters and normies whose turbo charged by pro choice matters.
Nor should they. There is no pᴏlitical solution.
And then what? Say DeSantis squeaks out a miraculous win in 2024. The media will wage war on him, he'll be thwarted and hamstrung at every turn, and he'll lose in 2028. And at that point, demographic destiny will have made a republican win fully impossible. Hoping for a Republican win in 2024 is like arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
You just want to wallow in grievance and grasp defeat before it even happens.
You won't even bother to vote? This is what is wrong with the base.
You are the type of demoralized blackpilled doomer that I was talking about.
There is nothing productive with your toxic world-view.
As soon as the party stops your type of nonsense, the better the chances we have of achieving anything tangible.
Good day to you.
I'm not saying give up. Quite the opposite. I'm just saying that the time to have voted ourselves out of this came and went decades ago.
Telling people "just vote harder" is actually demoralizing, because it saps away all the righteous anger to actually do something effective.
They call him DeathSantis. They hate him just as much as Trump. They hate everyone on the right as much as they hate Trump.
You're deluding yourself thinking otherwise.
I agree that the only reason this case is being brought is because the left are desperate for Trump to be the 2024 nominee. Not only do they believe that he is eminently more beatable than the alternatives, he's also a huge boost to lefty businesses like journalism and for lefty fundraising. They don't care one bit whether they win any of these cases. Keeping Trump, as opposed to the disastrous results of their crappy policies, front and center in the minds of American voters is what they're really after here.
Not sure about Trump's fate post 2024 if there is a dem win, though. Honestly I think litigation would stop at that point as they just wouldn't care about him anymore in the same way that I don't think the current cases would be brought if he wasn't running now. In any event it appears at the moment that the current case and the other potential ones against him are all so legally weak that he's unlikely to be convicted.
You're mostly right. The dems have gamed this out. They're hoping that this prosecution of Trump outrages his base and gets him the nomination. That's a general election fight they know they can win. PA, AZ, WI, ang GA have all been fortified for democracy. Those states will not vote red in the general election, and that means that there is no electoral path to victory for any Republican candidate. Not ever again. Trump was the last Republican president.
This notion that the elections are rigged in swing states just lowers our turnout and then the Dem candidate just wins automatically.
People like you are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
We can absolutely have another GOP president. It will be tough to achieve but it can be done.
Trump becoming President on the other hand is actually impossible. He is hated by too many people.
Our retard base needs to stop being demoralized and actually turn out.
Again I ask you, and then what? The door is closing on any chance of electoral victory in future elections. Whether that happens in '24 or '28 isn't really relevant. The system is fully corrupted and cannot be reformed.
You are so blackpilled that it is pointless for me to try to convince you of anything.
Enjoy wallowing in despair and accepting defeats that have not yet even happened.
Your fatalistic worldview is beyond toxic.
The future belongs to those willing to shape it not those saying that the future is already lost.
I'm not saying the future is lost. I'm saying the time is coming to overthrow the system and get rid of its elites, not vote to reform it.
Laughable, coming from you.
Particularly with your attitude of, "I just want this whole thing to hold together long enough so I can die in comfort."
While it's probably true that Trump can turn out the republican base better than any other candidate you must weight that against the fact that he also will turn out the democratic base better than any other candidate. Which might be okay if he didn't also turn off the independent voters he must have to win.
Given that, I just don't see how Trump can win in 2024 barring something spectacular happening. The left is very well aware of this and so they badly want him to be the nominee. This litigation is part of their strategy to make that happen as they know that the republican base will rally around Trump in reactionary fashion if they perceive he is being unfairly persecuted.
Trump can't win in 2024. The only reason he won in 2016 is because they didn't cheat enough in key districts. They didn't think they had to. They didn't repeat that mistake in 2020 and they sure as hell won't in 2024.
Donald Trump Jr. literally told MAGA voters to go out and vote for Dan Kelly and you think not having Trump on the ballot was the reason for the loss?
The reason for the loss is that the GOP's position on abortion is electorally toxic to the majority of the electorate and that rural voters and evangelical voters aren't turning out to vote.
Trump on the ballot supercharges Dem turnout more than he turns out rural and evangelical voters. We have seen this happen in 2020. Too many MAGA types like you refuse to face reality. It wasn't just due to election fraud why Trump lost 2020.
The reality of the situation is that Trump is vehemently hated by the majority of the country and that many people who didn't vote for Hillary held their nose and voted for Biden because they absolutely despise Trump.
Wisconsin rural and evangelical voters must be absolute retards if they can't show up for this crucial race even after we had people like Scott Presler telling us the stakes on Bannon's war-room.
Dems can now get rid of voter id and push ballot boxes in Wisconsin.
I constantly hear the die-hard MAGA cultists bitch about election integrity but when the time comes where all they needed to was vote for Kelly they wouldn't do it.
The Trump coalition foolishly traded away reliable suburban GOP voters for brainless rural and evangelical hicks who won't even bother to turn out to vote in any non Presidential election.
I cannot believe that so many people currently on the right are this retarded.
And you voting harder cuckservatives will keep losing playing by rigged rules. You never focus on voting integrity laws. Youre just as bad as tds addled leftist.
You dont gain electoral votes in a presidential race then lose it overnight to an abnormal jump.
Many of the rural voters and evangelical retards in our base are too busy saying Trump won 2020 and yet they are not willing to go vote for Kelly who would prevent the Dems from taking away voter id.
We now have less election integrity in Wisconsin because too many idiots in our base are completely demoralized and saying elections are rigged.
I want more election integrity laws dumbass but too many of the rural and evangelical hicks in our base won't even bother to vote for people who actually push for more election integrity.
These clowns will cry about 2020 being stolen but when asked to do something as easy as voting for Dan Kelly they didn't do it.
I am really starting to hate the portion of our base that says Trump won 2020 and calls all elections rigged and yet won't even vote for candidates who will implement more election integrity. Fucking absolute numbskulls.
Blame gop for doing fuck all with the wi supreme court. I've narry see an ad for that guy that wasnt sicking abortion on him. Optics matter and people are dumb.
That and machines breaking down again. So much for election integrity in wi amirite?
But yeah keep blaming evangelicals and not the uniparty mongs who never wants to do its job.
because he did win 2020.
The funniest part is he didn't even give money to Stormy Daniels directly. He's being charged for each time he...paid his lawyer. With the claim that those payments were then going on to Stormy Daniels. Even though he paid his lawyer more than what his lawyer paid Daniels. The charges make no fucking sense, but it doesn't matter, since Orange Man Bad.
Also, I think even the initial claim that that was campaign finance or whatever is nonsense.
100%. They took an initial non-crime, or at worst misdemeanor (whose statute of limitations would have expired), and turned it into a felony. Despite Hillary doing much worse, and Obama getting a slap on the wrist for his financial shenanigans.
"No one is above the law" my ass. This isn't equal justice, this is yet another witch hunt.
No, Trump is Orange and Bad, until proven Literally Hitler.
What I've heard behind the scenes is this has pissed off all the lawyers that are ACTUALLY professionals and get convictions in NY, not for ideological reasons but because they originally threw this out because there was no case.
If Trump is convicted, it'll be overturned quick but the damage it did will quickly be felt by dems now that they opened the door to using lawfare against political opponents. Its why you're already seeing neocons like John Bolton saying it's BS because they see the bigger picture and it's way worse than Trump for them.
these are not people capable of seeing the future past their bedtime.
If we're talking about the established right and most of those in power, you're probably right.
But this is a 'crossing the Rubicon' kind of deal in that a lot of people didn't want to do similar and with more standing actions against Hilary or Obama etc because they didn't want to cross that line. Now them dems have, you might start with a few before it starts to flood through similar indictments against a lot more politicians.
A guy I know, who is one of the nicest people in the world, has been posting how much he wants to see Donald Trump drugged and die. This is lefty world view of the event. There is no real stop.
I do worry considering where they are. Plus the DA is known to care more about criminals than victims. Of course the media is talking about the death threats he is getting. I think this will get thrown out. Or at least I hope so
I suspect that NY will spend as much money as they have to in order to keep this case - and Trump - tied up until election time.
Expect to see every shitty trick imaginable and every opportunity taken to prolong the process.
My main question is if NY thinks they have a chance of getting Trump killed in an Antifa riot. I'm fairly sure that if that could be arranged with a decent level of deniability quite a few politicians in NY would jump at the chance.
The law doesn't matter. This isn't about laws or who did what.
This is tactical. They thought impeaching him would prevent another campaign, now they believe this will prevent him from winning ("You can't elect someone who is indicted!!") When that fails, they'll arrest him, and when that fails, he will be Epstein'd.
Dems know the GOP is too weak willed and co-opted to respond in kind. They know they've captured the judiciary and the courts. At this point I wouldn't even count on the Supreme court weighing in on the side of the constitution.
Buckle up. It's going to get bumpy. We're deep into third world banana republic territory now.
I think they know the charges are weak as fuck, but it's irrelevant. I expect Trump to face indictments in multiple states. I think they're going with a death by a thousand cuts strategy.
Will it work? No idea. But I do know that they won't let Trump back into the white house, one way or another.
Or can they prove the "unlawful means" without an actual charge? Can that work?
The finders of fact, a jury of his "peers" (really, 12 rabid TDS liberals who are able to keep it together long enough during voir dire to successfully lie about being neutral), will just decide it's true.
(copying my reply to someone else who recently insinuated the same thing)
There are many glaring problems with that idea, but Razorfist already covered them better than I could. He also covered the idea of a settlement payout pretty well in another video. For someone like Trump it's basically like you giving pocket change to a hobo to go away. (assuming Trump even knew about the payout, which he denies)
