This had to have been written by a woman
It's definitely Californian. Thier accent is mostly thier inability to do anything but use filler words and be obnoxious.
California Gym Bro: "Dude! Bro! Did you see that shit! Bro, I just totally use my mind to break that shit! Fuck yeah, bro!"
California Valley Girl: "Oh my god, like, did I just, like, do that? Oh. my. gosh. Did you just, like, see me do that? I, like, totally, just used my mind to break that! HA HA HA HA! Oh my GOD!"
So Cal Bro: "Hell yeah, Bro! Did just see that shit, bro? I got hella mind powers, bro! Yooooo, let's goooooooooooo!"
If you look at the dialogue play it’s exactly how women writers view “comedy” you have yass queen and the catty, stuck up “voice of reason” that is equally insufferable.
Which is ironic, since the character is supposed to be a New Yorker.
Hella is distinctly Nor Cal, nobody ever says that down here in So Cal.
no-one but californians cares enough to distinguish between the two.
It's all just grating awfulness.
Y'all are crazy.
I think you just happen to know a guy that’s still saying hella and he happens to be from norcal.
Nobody really says it up there anymore, but 15 years ago it was common.
Apologies, my mistake.
Smart men: "I seem to possess the ability to manipulate objects without physical interaction. Further testing is required."
throws small rock at nearest friend
"OW!"
This makes a strong argument for replacing a lot of writing teams with AI and chatbots...
If we can get them without filters? Sign me the fuck up! I don't mind playing a game by bot373737 if it means it's a good game with fun characters and less woke shit.
Eventually even the systems and play mechanics will be AI designed.
I’m looking forward to it. Creators have become insufferable.
The part I'm not looking forward to is when we hit the point where everyone can just get a fully personalized game, tailored specifically to their interests and tastes. I think there's a real possibility that the technology can get there, but the cost is that then we'll have no shared experiences whatsoever. I was reading a discussion about it somewhere the other day and it really stuck with me. We're going to have fully personalized entertainment, but it will mean the complete death of entertainment media's ability to be a means of community bonding. You'll play the best game in the world but you'll be the only one who will ever play it. You'll never discuss it or get to share your excitement with others because they'll all be busy playing their ideal game instead.
This is the stuff that keeps me up at night.
The lack of shared experiences are why we are so disconnected from our fellow man. Its perverse that we have more WAYS to connect now with the internet and all of its various social media platforms but fewer real connections.
Have you thought about books at all or just games? 200 years ago if someone was educated they largely had all read they same books. That was true for most Europeans. Now days, I'm excited when I find anyone who has read some of the older things I enjoy.
Lolno. It's a decade old engine that Squeenix made because they were too stubborn and full of pride to use Unreal or Unity.
This isn't an issue with the game engine. Both Forspoken and Final Fantasy XV both use the Luminous Engine, and I wouldn't consider FFXV to be anywhere near the travesty this game is. I thought it was pretty good in a visual and mechanical sense. Forspoken could have been what took Luminous into the next generation if it was written, and developed, by people who are proficient in these respective fields.
Why is she so fucking hideous. Like she doesn’t look remotely human to me. Like some weird cross breed
Maybe I like non-humans, but I was just thinking how it was really strange that she doesn't look hideous.
how much money did they burn making her so fucking ugly
That that ugly mug? Priceless. For everything else there's master card ;)
I'm still laughing that despite this game having negative hype from even the reveal, and being a constant joke the entire development onward, they didn't even try to mitigate it. They just pridefully ignored all criticisms and assumed they would still win.
You'd think after the entire Sonic movie thing, big corps would realize you can turn a trashfire into a hit by listening to at least some fan feedback.
So true... I remember the Bloodstained guys taking feedback from the hideous graphics of the first trailer and then doing their best to fix them by the time the game came out, this was an huge green flag to me and made me decide to buy it, it turned out to be one of the greatest games I ever played
What really killed any hope of sales was the demo they put out, surely they aren't so deluded that they thought it was a good look?
I hadn't even heard of the demo, which says a lot.
Though given that's the exact thing that also killed Balan Wonderworld, a terrible demo release shooting your own hype down, it might just be Squenix is stupid.
Not moved; copies of Forspoken.
Because gamers are racist and sexist and can’t accept a title with a female POC lead!
Casually forgetting all the previous games with a female leads that run circles around this piece of californian garbage
Given that it indicates the people making it hate me for being a white man? Yes.
Even the AI was getting sick of it.
Self-centered language is not what heroes use.
The dialogue is supposed to make you want to type /suicide and kill your PC, right?
I'd just like to add how much I hate the "hidden narrating guide" trope has embedded itself into gaming.
God of war does it but much better I actually kinda like it when it's done well like in ragnarok any other games that do it?
The jossification of dialogue and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
