I do remember enjoying Episode 1 the most, in part thanks to all the hype of Star Wars returning after a long hiatus. Then 2 and 3 were huge letdowns. But after the sequels, I realized that quality is relative and the prequels were merely tarnished gems. Given a nice polishing and viewed under proper lighting, they're beautiful. No matter how much you polish 8 and 9 they are still turds.
You can like what you please, and I'm sure you've seen all the movies, but if you weren't alive when the original trilogy was actually new in theaters you don't understand waiting 15 years for the promised next chapter and then getting the prequels.
The dialogue is stilted and awful, the CGI is inferior to the models used in the originals, and there's an overall empty feeling.
Literally the only bad thing about the prequels is some of the dialogue.
I've never heard anyone say the battle sequences were bad, or that the acting itself was bad, or that the plot was bad. Just the dialogue, and that seems to be enough to relegate them to the trash.
People can say what they want, but the Coruscant battle in Ep III and the Geonosis battle in Ep II was peak Star Wars.
Even some of the dialogue that is bad at least can be somewhat justified in the context. Like all of the complaints about how Anakin trying to talk to Padme comes off as cringey, to which my response is "No shit." My boy was raised in a cult that told him that emotional attachment was evil. How did you expect him to talk to people?

Midi-chlorians, Jar-Jar Binks, the Jedi just accepting an entire army they had never heard of because some randos said they ordered it...
Lucas collaborated with a lot of people on the original trilogy. For example, he showed a rough cut of Star Wars to Spielburg and his friends which resulted in significant cuts and re-ordering of scenes. Empire Strikes Back, widely regarded as the best of the series, was neither written nor directed by Lucas
Lucas let his reputation get to his head on the prequels and both wrote and directed them himself. They showcase his weakness as both a writer and director. There's nothing wrong the story concept of a forbidden love affair corrupting a hero, but the execution is a mess.
At the end of the day, younger people are more generous towards the prequels because that was the Star Wars of their youth and they've never known Star Wars without those films existing. For those that are older, they're definitely a case of the whole being less than the sum of its parts.
They did that a while back-at least four or five years ago. They also re-ordered the series chronologically, which if you saw it when it originally aired doesn't make sense.
A number of episodes had both a young and younger Indy story. The younger Indy story would have characters and events that were important to the young Indy story. By breaking them apart by many hours, the viewer will likely miss the connection now.
I wouldn’t be surprised. If they can destroy Luke Skywalker I can see them sidelining Indy. Granted they could subvert expectations and make a non woje movie
Phoebe Waller Bridge's presence is all we need to know to predict that this will be a disaster. She played the "droids rights" robot in Solo and wrote the last shitty Bond movie (where we got to see a female 007, Bond become a daddy, and Bond die). Not a good pedigree.
Crystal Skull was shitty, but it had a ending to Indy's story- he was reunited with Marion and had Shia le Douche as a crappy way to carry on his legacy. Just let this franchise die with what dignity it has left.
It doesn't matter, the movie will be shit either way.
Almost guaranteed. After the Star Wars prequels and the Crystal Skull, I'm not falling for any more sequels to beloved movies.
Imagine thinking the prequels are bad after seeing any of the sequels.
Imagine thinking the Prequels are bad, period. Even with subpar entries like Phantom Menace, they are still great movies and I love them.
I thought the Prequels were bad, fight me.

Imagine being so young that you didn't grow up with the original trilogy and don't know any better.
The prequels are green screen CGI trash and the sequels are even worse.
Implying I havent seen every single Star Wars and love them all. Except the Sequels, because fuck the Sequels.
I suppose this would also be a bad time to mention that my favorite Star Wars is Revenge of the Sith?

Yes, that movie is pure garbage.

Tl:dw - paramount+ has scrubbed all the parts of “old Indy” narrating the parts of young Indiana Jones from young Indiana Jones.

That sounds like a special kind of retarded.
Harrison Ford must hate his fans.

Coming soon to Netflix : Air Force Two : The Fight against the Insurrection.
As long as they still throw Steven Seagul out of the plane in the first five mins, it’s not a deal breaker
You are joking but I could legitimately see all the plots you brought up
It's not just about remaking the series for the future, they have to kill your heroes in front of you then salt the earth
Who?
The next Indiana Jones is directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, a woman who famously said she admired murderers who target men.
While I believe you on this one, this is something I've really got to see for myself.
See that she's directing it or see that she said that?
Edit : She's apparently the lead...what the actual fuck kind of movie are they making?
The propaganda kind.
Hollywood admitted they're no longer in the entertainment business when they said the live action Cowboy Bebop adaptation wasn't intended to be good.
Was it ever?
The kind where they tell Harrison Ford he'll get millions and doesn't even have to act because his role is all CGI.
I don't blame the guy for taking one last payday. He must be at least 70. He can't play this character again, realistically.
Said it.
I have no idea if I'll find it, honestly. I posted about it on Reddit, I think.
