I know citing 1984 is kind of a cliche at this point, but when every news agency simultaneously started spelling it the other way it reminded me of that scene when the war switches from Eurasia to Eastasia during Hate Week and the party seamlessly transitions to hating Eastasia.
1984 was a prediction. It basically all came true. And nobody cares.
Well, yes, but it was also just a copy/paste of everything that was already happening in the Soviet Union and what Orwell saw during the Spanish Civil War. If you've ever read Homage to Catalonia you see where he got a lot of ideas for 1984 and Animal Farm.
