Yeah, I don't think it's going to be a historically accurate portrayal. At best, some "artistic license" will be involved where the King of Wahmenz will be slaughtering the French legionaries until she is overwhelmed by their numbers (despite the opposite being true and they still lost).
I bet a shit tonne more than 6 French soldiers will be lost during any big battle scene, and that's just her personal kill count. Not to mention her superior close-combat skills despite most of the deaths occurring by bayonet
I think I saw some people theorising it could be a 300-style movie. I could see it kind of working in that regard, but unless the movie covers several battles, the kill count is going to be vastly over-inflated, especially against the French.

Assuming the article is accurate, this shows how ridiculous the notion that a tribe/community only needs a few men to survive because the women are the reproductive bottleneck (this notion is used by many including many non-feminist men to justify male disposability and justify gynocentrism). Such a tribe gets wiped out by a tribe with more men. Reproduction is far from the only matter of importance when it comes to human communities. In almost any matter apart from reproduction, men are more valuable than women, so when it comes to survival in competition with other communities, a tribe allowing their men to mostly die out is a disaster that usually leads to extinction.
The reproductive bottleneck is never going to be the rate at which a woman is physically capable of producing children anyway, unless the sex ratio is skewed in favour of the men. Because it's not the two year turnaround from conception to weaning that is the limiting factor, it's your capacity to support and train the child until they are old enough to do more work than they create.
This isn't a Brave New World-esque trend at all, warping history and facts in Feelies into nonsense pomo mash that further obscures and confuses history, placing bizarre over-exaggerated emphasis on obscure historical points and magnifying them as if they were significant and not outliers whose history was quickly snuffed out.

Dude, this entire war was about slavery. Because the Dahomeys entire culture existed based on slavery, because their entire existence was about raiding other African cities and enslaving people. This is why the French decided to step in and fight a war to put an end to their empire in the first place. And a large portion of the French forces were also Africans who were tired of Dahomey's shit. (like the Senegalese Tirailleurs. They should had just made a movie about them, and it would be a cool movie about black soldiers putting the final nail in the coffin of the last great enslaver empire in the world.
