Am I understanding this right? The board of a non-profit specifically made to support this quartet has effectively fired the quartet?
Because they play classical quartet music?
‘It does feel a little strange to receive walking papers from an institute I founded,’ cellist Jordan
You fucked up and ceded control of the board to a bunch of woke infiltrators.
Start a new non-profit and do better this time. I might throw a few dollars at it as long as it doesn't have any goofy words like "diverse" and "inclusive" in the mission statement.
Classical music is beautiful. If certain people generally don’t show an interest then so be it. Anyone is free to listen to or learn it. Gatekeeping is the way.
NPCs don't even know what Classical music even is. I remember having to explain to one moron online that Classical music and classic X music are different things.
This guy tried to tell me that old rap music can be Classical because classic rock is "Classical"
This was around the time that country stations wouldn't play country roads because it's not fucking country.
If you really want to be technical, "classical music" refers to a specific movement time period from the mid 18th century to the early 19th century. For example, Mozart was a classical composer, Bach was baroque, and Beethoven was romantic.
That's an important distinction, these NPCs cannot argue coherently because they don't understand basic concepts they should have learned in middle school music class.
I can't prove this, but within months of #MeToo, I believe Pitchfork adopted an official policy where 3 out of 5 daily reviews have to be female artists, or at least female fronted bands. They had already been quickly shifting to black artists, so the remaining 1 or 2 are almost always minorities, gay, trans, etc. Finding a white, straight, male artist in one of their reviews, let alone one of their best of lists, is nearly impossible especially if they aren't an established act.
I'm not saying that's a prerequisite for making good music, but when Pitchfork was primarily Indy Rock and Electronic music a few years ago it was predominantly white males that happened to be featured because that's who most of the good artists in those genres were.
It's like if MIT suddenly decided to fix STEM disparities, and accepted almost no white or asian males. You wouldn't miraculously get a diverse AND qualified graduating class in four years.
I can't tell you how many thoroughly mediocre female bands and artists I checked out before I figured out what was going on.
The site was already going to shit, but it is now almost worthless for finding new, good music. It's all just politics with a thin veneer of art.
As always the left needs their ideals enforced. If they believed in their diversity is strength then the market would have corrected itself. But they only seem to succeed if they keep others down, in other words communism.

Honk Honk is now classical music.
With friends like this, who needs enemies?
Found a string quartet.
Let leftists in.
Let them into positions of power.
Get shown the door.
See the string quartet turned into something that is not a string quartet, because it was never about the music to these people.
WISE THE FUCK UP to leftist infiltration.

Any organization that isn't explicitly based will eventually become cucked.
Now they know. "Diversity" isn't a legitimate concept. It is yet another motte and bailey definition that really means "under marxist control".
Whoa now. People of color culturally appropriating european culture?
50% women isn't enough???

This comment reminded me of an article I saw today when I was looking for the conclusion of a criminal case I was following.

"high profile" yeah right lol
And 100% of the people with superiority complexes.
I believe that comment was about the composers of the music they play.

Madness
Anyone else think the books have been nuked in the microwave for a while now? The foundation is probably bankrupt and this was the coverup.
