He has 21 billion liquid, a bank willing to cover 12 billion against his Tesla shares, and another 13 billion loaned.

The man who really wants to shitpost on Twitter.

He should rather buy Wikipedia.

He should rather buy Wikipedia.

Couldn't literally anyone just... copy wikipedia, articles and all, host it themselves, and let a community fix it?

Name is valuable. And... unfortunately, the right is terrible at names. Alt sites have non attractive names.

Truthsocial, infogalactic are good examples of that.

But, not only that, we also need a product that is known and popularly used, like Wikipedia and reddit.

Wikipedia isn't great. Most of this is just normalcy of using certain words a lot. Google for example. Was not natural until people used it for 10+ yrs

Wikipedia isn't great but just using wiki is genius.

I would happily trade "being the richest" for "being able to redirect asteroids".

assuming the technology to do that actually exists, you think rothschild can't also afford it? i mean why would musk be able to redirect asteroids? because he's smart and invents all his space companies tech himself? no.

It takes more than money to do what SpaceX is doing. I know progressives try to tell us everyone is a "blank slate" and we are interchangeable. We are not. Money isn't everything. a collection of motivated, highly-intelligent people is worth more than all the money in the world.

Exhibit A: Blue Origin. Founded 21 years ago.* Still hasn't put a rocket into orbit.

(*or about 12 years if we're just counting status as an operational launch company)

How much of his actual wealth does this constitute? How serious is he about this offer? If it is serious, I do wonder what he stands to gain from twitter in a material sense. I don't believe he's doing this for ideological reasons alone.
