The Academy Awards shows everything that's rotten in Hollywood - they rewarded/condoned assault on a host. They are manufacturing MORE violence against comedians. (www.youtube.com)

Honestly this is just a way to get people to talk about Oscars again. This is the awards that give awards only if the movie meets the diversity quotas.

Please let the Oscars die in to irrelevance.

They were 3/4 of the way into the garbage disposal, this is nothing less than a resurrection of the brand. Well played if you think about it.

I don't think I've seen any publication left or right, any newspaper, any website, tv news, that hasn't mentioned the incident. That's some big time publicity right there.

Yet it was a totally spontaneous outbreak/

9.8m with a literal captive audience, too.

Well, they're manufacturing consent for more violence against comedians.

(And that GI Jane comment was pretty funny. Hey, Jada, baldness isn't a tragic condition, and if you don't want people poking fun at it, wear a wig. People made fun of bald guys forever. Never seen The Baldy Man, for gods' sakes?)

"Called by god"? Is that what you call the wife now?

That's an interesting theory. Now instead of woke heckling on college campuses maybe noncompliant comedians get assaulted in any cities that don't enforce laws anymore.

I knew Chris wouldn't take this to the police, but god damn, I wish he did.

Anyone who plays the 'God told me to do do it' card is clearly fucking losing it.

Will is obviously a doormat husband who will bend over backwards to please his wife, who refuses to see that she has no love or respect for him and simply uses him to pay her bills and keep her living in luxury.

Her walking all over him is slowly tearing him apart, but he's fucking blinded by memories of the good times he had with her, and desperately clinging to a woman he should've thrown out long ago.

Chris didn't go to the police because it's not worth his time, but god damn, Will needs a therapist who'll be straight with him about his woman, and he's probably got a better chance of finding that therapist at the police station than he does window shopping for celebrity shrinks in LA.

Chris didn’t go to the police because the black community would have crucified him.

I knew Chris wouldn't take this to the police, but god damn, I wish he did.

He'd be charged with making a false report.

The slap was obviously staged IMHO.

Eye contact

He's wondering what Will is doing

Bracing for contact, Neck Tucked

He may sense danger

Leaning in

Likely expecting Will to say something

Sissy Smack, Weak Throw

Yes, a slap is a way to get a point across without much risk of doing any significant damage.

Will was caught on camera laughing at Chris' joke until the moment he saw his wife's grimace, and then he went full white knight to defend her honor. I said he was clearly losing it, but being crazy enough to go for a real punch and risking leaving a mark on Chris that would be visible for the remainder of the show would've been orders of magnitude worse.

He delivered as much force as he could get away with without serious consequences.

No attempt to block

Chris Rock is a 57 year old who most likely hasn't been in a fight since his teens - if he's ever been in a fight at all. You're expecting quick reactions?

This article has a video of the slap (about halfway down) and Chris looks like he knew it was coming.

Plus, the Oscars were dying. They needed something this splashy.

You might argue that's just coincidence and up to that point I might be inclined to believe it.

BUT what sealed the deal for me is that Pfizer sponsored the show and they just happen to come out with a new Alopecia drug. That's just too big of a coincidence to believe this was organic. It's a viral marketing stunt.

Consider after the hit. Why was there no security or anyone else getting up to possibly step in and stop a possible fight? Why wouldn't Rock move to protect himself or evade after one hit unless he knew that would be the extent of the attack?

The best point to support it being real is that Will Smith is not a good enough actor to have pulled it off.

He's no savant, but anger is one of the easiest emotions to fake. Much easier than fake crying, for example.

I'd cry too if I had to go sit down by my wife who cucked me

Why was there no security or anyone else getting up to possibly step in and stop a possible fight?

Because Will immediately turned his back on Chris and walked away?

I expect some type of reaction, quick or not. Nobody just stands there like that when they see someone cock back to hit them, unless they know what's coming.

Some great lines in there -

"You better not come at my family..."

"- but if you do, you better have your dick out"

Have any White people ever slapped someone at the Oscars or is this just another example of black excellence in action?
