Before the invasion, I wasn't persuaded by Russian claims that Ukraine is a threat to Russia, though I certainly thought it understandable that they don't want Ukraine in NATO.
But now I am. There have been a dozen attempts to start a world war for that petty and corrupt American vassal.
Zelenksy is pulling every cry to get other countries involved. Now he’s essentially threatening Europe with a nuclear leak that would only occur if they have an insanely shoddy infrastructure.
Kids grew up on nuclear fear porn, Simpsons and glowing green from radiation, constant media cycles about how nuclear reactors are nuclear bombs waiting to go off.
There has been a constant campaign by shady environmental groups and NGOs to cripple the west's energy sector. They started with Nuclear, which was our best bet for a bright future, and now are currently targeting coal.
president Volodymyr Zelensky said he feared an explosion at the Zaporizhzhia plant would be “the end for everyone. The end for Europe. The evacuation of Europe”.
“Only urgent action by Europe can stop the Russian troops,” he warned. “Do not allow the death of Europe from a catastrophe at a nuclear power station.”
Fears of a potential nuclear disaster at the plant also spread alarm across the rest of the world, before authorities said the fire had been extinguished.
Using fake nuclear propaganda from the 70s to push for aid. Frankly Ukraine deserves to lose with such a weak leader.
Chernobyl occurred because it was horribly maintained and fueled with shoddy uranium. Modern nuclear plants ever since Chernobyl have very little radioactive leaks, essentially zero casualties, and don’t have anywhere near the damage potential. This is just gross propaganda.
There is nothing that will pull Europe into the war, though sanctions may persuade Putin to extend the war and in that manner drag Europe into the war.
I have no special insight into Putin's mind, obviously, but a punitive expedition into the Baltic states ought to look rather attractive to him - just to show them "NATO cannot protect you". I suspect that NATO would try to defend them, but not bring the war into Russia. This means that he can just invade, level the place, and then withdraw. If they refuse to lift the sanctions, I don't think that would be very unlikely.
It's pretty clear from that livestream that Uke forces fired at the Russian vehicles first. And they were fighting at admin buildings the Ukes hid in and the parking lot. Hardly an attack on the power plant
According to the Robert Wright podcast (who is a leftist but leans non-interventionist), CNN framed it as "the Russians set fire to the nuclear power plant".
This was the water cooler talk all day Friday. I didn't see the video though. I tried to watch something but it was 18 minutes long and I couldn't find anything but some car alarms going off.
Nothing says "we're the good guys" like using massive propaganda to create global nuclear conflict instead of just promissing Russia you won't join NATO.
It "could" also be the START of utopian Europe. It "could" also send off a signal that lures aliens over that take over Earth. It "could" also align all its electrons simultaneously and become ethereal to macro-physics.
"could" is a wonderful word, but how about something more concrete?
One must remember that even the power plants of today having more safety measures to avoid another Chernobyl, a well placed bomb, stray shell can cause a big massive problem. As not many power plants are built to withstand constant pounding of bombs, rockets, and shells. As far as I know even bunkers have a limit and are not invincible. Zelensky was right.
This is the ignorance built out of propaganda, the amount of damage needed to break the containment in Japan was a magnitude 9 earthquake and even then there were no deaths from the radiation leak. It would take a heavily concerted effort and direct intent to set off a plant.
There are bunker busting bombs, Armour piercing shells and more. An earthquake is a different action from a direct hit from one of those things.
You are comparing apples with oranges here.
You are also not accounting for old soviet infrastructure, no upgrades or subpar upgrades on the older reactors and more. An earthquake is far different from a bomb falling through on a reactor.
Once again you are proving ignorant of the facts, Ukrainian plants were built on a model designed to compensate for Chernobyls explosion. All are 1980 or newer. The “shelling” of the plant did nothing. It is now being spun to be the end all because of nothing.
Did they predict the future? Because they all began construction in 80's, the first ones commissioned in 86 and 87. Chernobyl happened in the 26th of april 1986
Thank you for telling me you do not understand how bombs work and that you believe buildings are invincible. I blame the lack of destruction physics on games for this.
And they are all not the same model as Chernobyl. Once again, they are all built around containment and have been modified since Chernobyl. The reactor that was “on fire” was currently being modified and refitted. Even the top nuclear people said the plant could take more than tank fire. You would know this if you bothered spending five minutes reading instead of spouting off inaccurate claims.
Once again, real life is not a video game. Things can be destroyed. It can be mitigated with safety features, but nothing is invincible or indestructible. And you will know I said more than tank fire. I said bombs, anti-armour weaponry and more.
Go check it out. You chose to be angry first, and read second.
Go find the last nuclear reactor that imploded from an artillery strike. I’ll wait. If you’re so dense as to think reactors are only outfitted every 40 years you would be correct, except this was the most recent update started in 2019. Again you could spend the 5 minutes reading what occurred or keep sperging. There’s no reason for Russia to ignite a reactor that would take them out with Ukraine.
You need to look at your own advice. Red barrels don't explode when being shot at. Cars don't burst into flames when a bullet riccochets off them. Nuclear power plants don't turn into nuclear bombs because a chunk of wall falls down.

All by design.
There has been a constant campaign by shady environmental groups and NGOs to cripple the west's energy sector. They started with Nuclear, which was our best bet for a bright future, and now are currently targeting coal.
why does nato even still exist? it should have ended with the fall of the soviet union.
Do you really need to ask?
Using fake nuclear propaganda from the 70s to push for aid. Frankly Ukraine deserves to lose with such a weak leader.
Oh, it's not that he is weak. He is a calculating shitstirring cunt. Fucker is planted.
I think it will work, the threat of another Cernobyl will pull Europe in to the war. We will be fucked if that happens, US will definitely join.
Chernobyl occurred because it was horribly maintained and fueled with shoddy uranium. Modern nuclear plants ever since Chernobyl have very little radioactive leaks, essentially zero casualties, and don’t have anywhere near the damage potential. This is just gross propaganda.
I expected as much but is not so much about reality as much as the threat of Cernobyl that is played here.

This is more then I expected from Ukrainians, I'm guessing they are getting advice from outside.

Or did the Ukies blow up the plant them selves?
Zelensky is like a psychotic ex. He's doing the geo-political equivalent of, "If you don't get back with me I'm going to kill myself",
wait... his name is Volodomyr? Like Voldemort? Yeah, the media is biased because no one has made that connection yet.
If someone were to find footage of him meeting with JK Rowling, perhaps the propaganda machine can be turned around.
Too Photoshop!
Western Europe is already dead.
If anything, nukes would at least remove the flies desecrating the corpse.
Ukraine and its propaganda is the real danger in Europe, not Russia.
Promise?

"Life is not a video game"

If Russia wants to bomb and destroy it, then yes it would be a problem. It could not sustain that.
It will not happen randomly as an accident. Keep in mind that they are built to survive terrorist attacks (bombs, airplanes, ...).
