Ukrainian President Zelensky Signs Letter and Appeals to EU for Immediate Inclusion into the Union (archive.is)

This kind of scares me. If EU allows Ukraine in then Russia has no reason to hold back. Any hope for a negotiation will fly out the window.

Or am I wrong?

Let's be realistic here; if Putin decided he was going to eliminate the EU (and by that I mean the unelected bureaucracy masquerading as a legitimate governing body) the entire region would be better off.

No more migrant quotas, no more erosion of national culture and identity, no more countries bankrupting themselves to fund the boot on their neck.

Initially the EC was a decent idea, setting up free trade deals between nations and (I believe) mutual defence treaties. Unfortunately, just like so many other governmental organisations around the world, it grew too large, interfered too much and is now simply a massive burden on the hardworking taxpayer.

The EU was a trade deal that turned into merchant kings who owned entire countries.

People look back at the Venician merchant-princes and were like "how did random merchants wind up controlling more than royalty?" But then they looked at the EU and went "seems legit, I can see no way this at all might turn into new merchant princes. Now, let's ask the unelected economists controlling the markets from the shadows if we're allowed to buy toilet paper or not unless we build statues in their honor."

If we must kill the lawyers first, the second to go will need to be the economists for sure.

The EU isn't giving Russia any reason to hold back even now.

I know but there is room for negotiations. Remove sanctions and maintaining Ukrainian independency from EU and NATO - stuff like that.

If Ukraine is in EU then there is no possibility of negotiations.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist, so who knows, I was already wrong once before, I did not think Russia would invade Ukraine, I honestly thought it was just a psyops to make EU and US look weak.

Because what, an Ukrainian protest letter?

Won't. Because it's just a performative protest from a former showman, and apparently you know just nothing about the situation if you think otherwise.

He did the same with NATO once it started (asked them like "so would Ukraine get the membership, maybe you tell already, yes or not" and got no answer of course but at least somewhat embarassed them publicly).

Or in his own words:

"I asked them -- are you with us?" Volodymyr Zelensky said. "They answered that they are with us, but they don't want to take us into the alliance. I've asked 27 leaders of Europe, if Ukraine will be in NATO, I've asked them directly -- all are afraid and did not respond. We were left by ourselves. Who is ready to give Ukraine guarantees of NATO membership? Honestly, everybody is afraid,"

He then, also performatively, unfollowed all the presidents on twitter.

His actions show he is still a comedian at heart.

This grandstanding showmanship won't save his people.

If he holds against Russia he will get in history as a hero. I wonder how many feminists are pissed at that.

You're seriously naive. Most of the footage of him is from months ago, there's little to no proof he's actually taking any major risks at the minute. It's pure PR, and everyone is falling for it.

I'm fully aware it is all for show, but image is all that matters not reality. He will be called as some kind of hero of the ages if they hold on against Russia does not mean he is a hero.

They don't even qualify either, but I'm not sure if it's a performance, when the EU said they want them to join too.

Path to membership, not "immediate inclusion" (during war no less).

gobohomo doesn't care about Ukraine or it's people. They're hyping this to get as many white men killed as possible, and to allow them to push around Russia. Only Russia and China have militaries that aren't globohomo.

They even admitted that the process usually takes many years. That is them saying, well yes, you can join. Whatever is left of you after Russia is done with you. And you know, it probably won't be convenient then. This is how things go sometimes. So sorry.

Now go finish driving your "volunteers" before your trained regular soldiers into the Russian army. Nothing makes quite a good sacrificial globalist toadie as globohomo-loving Ukrainians I guess.

I think globohomo like this because it helps them move to a more unifying, globalist approach on one hand and on the other it is a distraction to the increasingly large amount of people waking up to globalist machinations.

Sweet. So if they manage to push back the Russian invasion, they will get EU-mandated invasions instead.

Not even sure what is worse. Getting conquered by Russia but allowed to exist as a people or join the EU and become one of the borg.
