And that’s Sydney, lads… Not even in our top two “wokest” cities… 😳

It is, still, supposedly the “gay capital”, but Melbourne and Canberra are definitely umm, “more PC”/left wing, let’s say…

And Adelaide, historically, was definitely ahead of Sydney on that front, too (not so sure now, though)…

Fuck Kingsford-Smith Airport (that place), though… Full privatization absolutely fucked that place, as, umm, you can see… 🤮🤡🌏🇦🇺

Full privatization absolutely fucked that place

Can you elaborate?

Airports in Australia were and often still are government-owned. Local, regional. airports (say, Rockhampton, Bathurst, Margaret River, Byron Bay) are owned by the local council. Large airports, such as this one, were owned by the Federal government, initially fully, and then partially sold off (i.e. the assets were wound up into, for example, "Sydney Airport Corporation", which officially runs the place).

In the last... Decade or so, these airports have been, largely, fully privatised, I believe, which means the government has sold off their share, and absconded all responsibility for the running of the place. Meaning that the now privately-owned "Sydney Airport Corporation" can do whatever it wants, such as this, without fear of public backlash, because they only answer to shareholders and private investors now, and not really Joe Public, i.e. the majority of their customers...

That make sense?

"Woke government" is a thing, sure, but they're not gonna be putting drag queens in the arrivals lounge, to say the least... "Woke corporate", on the other hand... You get the idea.

Have they not been allowing livestock imports this whole time?

I don't know, but it looks like a rat might have gotten in with them. They'll need to take care of that to protect their ecosystem.

It’d be interesting to see people debate what the difference between drag queens and trans folks are because the only difference seems to be that one is deranged enough to think that wearing a dress makes them a woman and the other just wants to wear a dress.

It’s a weird cultural shift to go from “I look like a woman now!” to “I AM a woman now!” after only changing your clothes.

If that was the first thing I saw getting off the plane then I think I'd turn right back around and board the next plane right back out....and I live in this stinking country.

Btw, Bamboozler, any plans to get the fuck out of here ASAP? I'm still thinking of doing it pretty soon.

I’m considering it man, yeah…

Honestly, if I could afford it, I probably would have left by now… 😑

But yeah, by mid-year, if trends continue, and I don’t have anything tying me here, and I can afford it by then… Yes, I am thinking so.

Especially talking to people who’ve been living overseas, recently. We’re so far behind. Even (some) blue parts of America are becoming more “normal” than us, at this point, re “Covid”… 😑

What are you thinking? Where would we even go??

u/RicWulf and u/subbookeeper are the other two Aussies I know of (and remember) in here, if you guys have any thoughts on this..?

the us is awesome, but getting a greencard can be involved, i think. it might be simpler for you to stay in a nation you know. if you dont have an in demand job, or study, it may take you a while to get one, afaik.

australia can be americoool in years if you bois down under fight for it. just sayin'

If you wanted to stay in Victoria (lol, don't), but wanted to move somewhere more... Sane, and also with good job prospects - I would recommend Warnambool, hey?

Good place, doesn't vote Labor, has everything you could need in a small city... That'd honestly probably be my pick, for your state. Or Mallacoota, but job prospects there almost certainly aren't as good. But really almost anywhere out of Metro Melbourne (excluding Daylesford/Hepburn, which is like, gay central, now...) has to be better than what you've currently got, with Andrews... :-/

Yeah, that'd be cool. Would love to be near Yellowstone, myself!!

Australia has parts like that, too. It's just that they are mostly owned by Chinese businessmen, or Indian mining companies, or Gina Rinehart, hahaha... :-S

A national John Galt strategy might work. All the productive people and independent thinkers move to the last sane place on Earth, watch the world crumble, and then roll up their sleeves and start sifting through the debris.

Yeah, I actually like this idea. Although unfortunately that would mean we're all in the one place for them to, uhh, well, you get the idea... :-/

But in theory I like the idea. You just need to be in some way physically removed from them being able to attack you - you know, like that Tom Cruise movie... What is it called, Elysium maybe?

Alternatively, though, I actually would consider just moving somewhere super small and fairly obscure, but not too insular, and just tuning it all out…

But you already live regional, right? And you haven’t managed to avoid it either..?

I’m not even anywhere near a major city myself, either, but it’s completely unavoidable, now, even here, as soon as you go anywhere out of the house…

Very frustratingly.

I was thinking Southwest/far southern WA might be cool, but then you’re stuck with McClown, and all the bullshit that brings/plus the “hard border”, and knowing that if you went “out of state”, you wouldn’t be able to get back in… 🤦🏻‍♂️

But, all that aside, Augusta, Albany, Denmark and Esperance all fit the bill for what I described above, lol…

Also Southeast SA - Naracoorte, Robe and the like. They fucking hate both Adelaide and Melbourne, so I guess that’s a good start, lol…

Ideas, anyway, if we all get desperate, and can’t get out of the country!! 😂

If I ever come across a town that is completely sane, re “Covid”, plus everything else, and hasn’t already been ruined by its fame (i.e. like Byron and Nimbin have), I’ll let you know, lol…

Any thoughts on Yamba?? I hear it’s nice, but I’m not sure what it’s like re Covid…

And the Sunshine Coast hinterland used to be pretty good, but I suspect that’s probably gone (more) nuts, due to its proximity to Brisbane, unfortunately…

Eden, Tilba and that area? Maybe that might be better…

Anyway, I’ll keep my ears open, for both of us, lol…
