There used to be some decent channels on the lowest or second lowest package. I was a kid so I don't know how it was price wise or if it was worth it, but it wasn't all shit back then. Reality TV turned a lot of decent channels to shit in the late 00's or so. These days you have to pay hundreds of dollars a month for the premium package to get any channels aren't shit all the time, and you can count those on one hand.
I think some of it is generational. My mother buys the premium package to get 1 or 2 channels that replay older shows. My uncle does the same, except he also gets the sports package on top of that because he's a fan of a team all the way across the country. I just don't understand that.

My parents still pay for dish, on top of YouTube tv and Netflix. They hardly watch anything, and pay out the nose for the pleasure. I don’t get it either.

This is the thinking they need to be taking on it. It seems damn fishy that AT&T decided to drop the network just after Biden goes out and reads the message from his handlers stating that they want outlets to cut the news that they believe is mis-/disinformation regarding the Party Line.
It's like Cruz grilling social media executives about censorship in Senate hearings then doing nothing of substance. Meanwhile you have snakes like Warren threatening antitrust enforcement if they don't censor even more than they already do and shitheels like Zuckerberg and Dorsey use it as a pretext to take the purges they were already planning even further.
Fairly sure committees can subpoena stuff, not random senators.
Maybe he could convince the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations that he's on to do it, but he's not the chair and it's not really their wheelhouse.
Plus there's not much enforcement power either if DirectTV refused the subpoena or even if he found wrongdoing he could only refer the matter to Biden's justice department to look into.
