I believe it is the Diablo 2 remake by Blizzard, at a glance, compared to the original. They are attempting to highlight the censorship of sexuality by noting the lack of censorship on the gore.
Diablo 2 was still fairly zoomed in to be an isometric title, you could definitely make out some character details. But in the updated remaster, it's quite blatantly obvious how they removed all the sex appeal from the characters after adding more detail to them. There was a small hubbub about it (as usual) before discussion was locked down and anyone complaining was labeled the typical "ists" and "phobes".
It is something in our culture that says extreme violence is cool. Though the violence in games and most movies is so cartoonishly over the top and stupid, it seems childish all over again
Gore was never appealing to me, I always found weird how some suspicious individuals have a gore fetish and worship this sort of thing, and these people are always pseudo-puritans as well when it comes to showing female bodies.
I might be wrong, but I think this is more about making the heroes realistic. If you were going into a dungeon to fight monsters, why the hell would you wear a thong without any protection around it?
Diablo 2 is a game about going to hell and defeating Satan with magical weapons. There is nothing realistic about it.
