The Weimar government had already negotiated down it's debt payments to the rest of the European powers because of their inflated currency, and the hyperinflation actually served to screw over the Great Powers by making the German debt worthless until it could be renegotiated.
The German State needed fewer Leftists. Lebensraum never served any point except as a pretext to a war that Hitler wanted to start anyways due to the last days of the Wiemar government re-instituting Socialist policies, and then his failed implementation of Socialist policies. They never had to get oil in the Soviet Union. A lot of people don’t get how integrated black slaves and poor southerners were, the majority of “soul” and creole food is just French and Scottish with African spices. The southern culture in general was looked down upon as lazy and indolent.
I've tried to look into it some, but I do find it to be a struggle because it's a politicized topic. That's probably the true value of relying on a person like Sowell, is to get help cutting through the nonsense.
Admittedly, while I love some southern foods, some dishes are too wild for me. I imagine the idea of eating certain "disgusting creatures" and "unsuitable body parts" was a contributing force in looking down on that southern culture. Theres plenty of historical references, my favorite to make hippies heads explode is to have them read the interviews done with former slaves where most of them said they had it better under slavery because being free meant you had to take care of yourself.
