Actually wasn't velma already race swapped to hispanic in the last movie? I guess cause her hair is kinda on the edge of red they get confused about which way to race swap her. They HAVE to race swap her though because she is smart and you can't let white people be smart anymore so it has to be a different race.

Seriously though that last scooby doo movie had some real rotten stuff in it. There basically was not actually any mystery in the movie, and Fred became a moron and a van fetishist [almost literally] and I recall people yelling at Fred literally yelling the words "Toxic Masculinity." at him [I forget if it was daphne or velma]. So... scooby doo ain't beyond going woke at this point. It has already headed there.
Even in the first movie, when they used a white actress, her hair was definitely more brown than red. I always considered her a brunette rather than a red-head.
Nothing official in the movie, just the actress saying stuff. I think the only thing in the movie is she speaks some Spanish and is designed maybe a little darker than previously, but nothing that can be concretely pointed to.
I dunno, I think they were pretty obviously trying to make her hispanic. I mean them making her skin color that way, speaking spanish, well heck even on the wiki page it lists her as latina in that movie.... I mean even the first two qualifies as yes, she was that in that movie lol. It wasn't just poor voice acting [and that would be poor voice acting to give a well known character a new accent and style when she wasn't intended to have it] or oops they got her skin color wrong. They clearly intentionally made her hispanic, even if they didn't overly slap you in the face with it.
That they saved for Fred. He went from brave and slightly cocky, but still well adjusted and smart guy to literally almost wanting to have sex with the mystery machine and the biggest idiot that has ever been shown on the show.
The only good knockoff of Scooby-Doo Where Are You? was Goober and the Ghostchasers. The two could have complemented each other perfectly, if they hadn't gone and made the Scooby ghosts real in the later iterations.
I mean, we already had The Ghostbusters (the live-action one with the two guys from F-Troop and a "gorilla".)
But interestingly - her brother is famously against affirmative action. His GPA was 1 point too low to get into med school. So He pretended to be black to get into med school. And actually succeeded.
They actually did retcon Velma into a lesbian in the last cartoon series. So now she'll likely actually be a lesbian and race-swapped. Double the disgusting points.
I used to think that at some point corporations would understand that this crap doesn’t sell and hiring a female/minority for the sake of it instead of because they are a good actor (I.e Denzel Washington) but I guess I was wrong.
