Culture warriors from both sides are starting to impinge upon the centre at this point. We, honestly, come across as weird. They come across as crazy and spiteful, and every time they take the mask off - as they increasingly have to, being in normie circles - they drive people away in disgust. I suspect this is partly due to their sheer inability to bide their time. Zealous fervour and patience do not mix well.

I disagree with you on the first part. The idea of “progressivism” is so powerful in normies that many of them aren’t really driven away from leftism. It’s like the Ryan Long basketball sketch (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mK3xRUbnBUw), the guy on the left was a complete asshole, yet the entire group (except for the guy “right”) still preferred to be on the left’s team and tried to work with the left specifically to avoid having to be on the right’s team. No matter how unreasonable the left becomes, the normies will choose the left. Normies are willing to accept a lot of bullshit from the left, and are very impatient of those who can no longer take the bullshit. That’s why normies say that anti-SJWs are “just as bad as SJWs,” because they don’t like it when people question the institutions (which is completely dominated by the left).
I think you're confusing the online "based centrists" with the general public. For the most part they either don't give a toss about woke stuff, or are actively hostile. Unfortunately a minority of hundreds of millions is still millions, and when they work together that minority can achieve a lot.
There will be a backlash against the woke or the woke will just continue to destroy everything.
A scenario where there is a backlash against the woke and a backlash against those fighting back the woke at the same time is just not feasible.

Well, if it comes to that, I suppose I'd better start getting at least a cursory knowledge about farming. However, human beings can learn, and as we are perhaps the most literate population in history we might well be able to pick up those skills.

That's why I keep telling people to stock up on supplies, learn how to farm, learn how to hunt and take care of family (or teach them how to take care of themselves).

Well, I guess that explains why they are making all the women in video games dogs. It helps feed into the underdog narrative that all her problems are due to sexism. People hate her because she's not pretty, and make her life miserable because she'd scare spiders.
Everyone knows, instinctively, women are children and are incapable of taking responsibility or dealing with the harshness of reality without relying on men. Writing women realistically is impossible because, in reality, women are not protagonists. Men do all of the things. Men protect and provide for women. To write a woman that is acceptable to post-modern progressives means ignoring reality and writing women essentially as supermen. But that's boring.
Now I want to make that game.
Easy to say from a random nobody on the Internet, but much like how artists created work and refused to wash down themes in defiance of the Evangelical Right, artists will need to relearn to create works and refuse to wash down themes in defiance of the Puritan Left.
Also, probably 90% of artists are left wing, so they're going to have to push through their own inclinations to follow leftist dogma, and that seems unlikely for most.
People don't know how to write because they don't know how to read. They know how to absorb text and interpret the meaning, but they do not know how to incorporate the deeper meaning and visualize it. That part of the brain has been burned away at this point.
