They literally have to behave this way now because their ideology is 100% couched in the oppressor/oppressed dynamics of Marxism. If they acknowledge that they have all the power, then that makes them the oppressor and, by their own definitions, the enemy. But much like postmodernism, the oppressor label was only intended to destroy a very specific target. So leftists pretend to have no power, even as they step on your neck, because that's precisely how they maintain their power.
This is also why victimhood is such a powerful and sought-after commodity in leftist culture. For leftists, victim status is a blank check to impose your will on basically anything and anyone. It's not about seeking sympathy or attention. It's about grabbing power.

I think the biggest objections to the Biden administration that the Left has right now are the fact that on occasion they choose not to violate the constitution because it will be too much of a headache in the court (Vaccine Passports), they refuse to pursue political suicide with certain progressive issues ($15 federal minimum wage and Medicare-For-All), will take up a Trump position because they were basically forced to accept he was right (wall restart), will choose to support their own support system over the Leftists themselves (no $2000 checks, but yes on insane spending programs), or will push progressive rhetoric but won't actually invite them into positions of power (racial justice causes led by Kamalla, not BLM chapters).
Those last two, frankly, they should have seen coming because the establishment are Leftists. If you're not part of their particularly clique, they'll tell you to eat shit and die the moment they don't need you. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

The difference is that I think their perspective is built off of Leftist Inevitability Doctrine. They think that the establishment are too weak willed to achieve utopia, even though the radical left are the arbiters of utopia and no one would ever oppose them if they just forced the rest of the world to live in Utopia.
And as absolutely aggressive as the Left has been, nothing of what they've done has been enough.
If Nancy Pelosi shot Ted Cruz in the head in the Senate Chamber, they'd say she was taking a moderate neo-liberal stance.
