Yep, with everything that happened no longer can any US election be trusted. If a country's leaders aren't trusted, and there is increasingly authoritarian policies being put into place, that means fracturing of the country is just about inevitable.
I wouldn't even put it down to the election. The polarisation of American politics is complete. Both sides are irreconcilable, so where do we go from there? That is cause enough for concern in the future.
Well there's essentially two countries in one at this point, the rural americans and the global urban progressives. That's why stealing the election from the enemy country was considered good. It's already a cold civil war.
What changed is that they stole the election and conservatives aren't fighters.
If Trump had been sworn in the left would have rioted and burned cities down and people would have finally defended their property which would have triggered even greater conflicts.
It's been stalled for now but we'll see how long it lasts.
At least half of the right believes in Equality, which really makes them on board with the left, just prefering a slower rate of fucking our values and population into the dirt. Very people left still love Freedom and individualism. Hence all the backstabbing. I personally blame Christianity for it's inverted value system, leaving people easy prey for being used as stupid tools.
Christianity used to be strong, while still supporting values that could hold a society together (for the most part). But somewhere along the line it turned into a giant punching bag that's destined for the dustbin of history. Weakness does not survive longterm. The only reason the west is still around is we're living off the fruits of previous generations labor, but the rest of the world is catching up fast, and they will not show the mercy that Christians gave everyone else.
I'm unsure what it fixes. The election was "lost" because of islands of corruption in otherwise conservative-ish states. Why cut yourself off when the cancer is already in you? I do think states need to flex their now atrophied muscles and they seem to be to some degree. When the feds announce gun seizures if the states stand up we'll see what happens; if not then there was no hope in secession anyway. And I don't think the political energy exists for an actual civil war. While the left would enjoy the idea of crushing red states I don't think they have the stomach for a war that isn't on the other side of the world. They'd have to bring back ration stamps; can you fucking imagine.
To that point - what power would... say, Stacey Abrams have if she was just a nobody "organizer" in the Independent State of Georgia (...the... North American independent Georgia), lording power over Atlanta?
The problem is cities can dominate entire states to swing electoral votes in presidential elections -- they'd have a lot less sway if they were forced to allocate state legislature votes Great Compromise style. In fact, they'd never get their way again.
The very early stages of Red States telling the Blue Feds to fuck themselves in a way I don't think we've seen in a very long time. But you need to walk before you can run, and at least we're now at a snail-pace crawl instead of a standstill.
Hope that continues, and I also hope that we start getting state and local politicians who see that as an end to itself and who aren't simply using it as a stepping stone into federal office. Because you also need that sort of localist spirit if you're going to have a proper secessionist movement. Because Florida would be better served with Governor DeSantis and President Biden than President DeSantis and Governor Bush (or insert other loser here).
To this end, I think what we are seeing now is the new way of doing it. People got angry, almost let their anger boil over, then luckily some people actually saw what was coming and went "Oh wait, you're trying to play me again arent you?" At which point everyone started to calm back down and now people are getting smart about ways of dealing with the problems with the options we actually have instead of running to the glowing man and shouting Fed-posting.
Considering it has already started to happen, I foresee lots of invoking of the 10th Amendment in the future and, heres hoping, a move back toward "The United States Are..." instead of "The United States Is..."
Nothings going to happen until a major change occurs. Gun confiscation, mandatory vaccines, public schools becoming full on reeducation camps...stuff like that.
public schools becoming full on reeducation camps...stuff like that.
Pretty sure we're there already. The only thing left that could possibly be done to make them more totalitarian is to make them mandatory boarding schools rather than commuter schools.
Hahaha, Americans can’t fix their problems, they can only complain about them or make fun of them while pushing them onto others. Modern-day America stinks.
Nothing’s really changed, Americans just moved onto complaining about something else.
Mmm-hmm, I’ve noticed a lot of recent American policies come straight out of the Commiefornian playbook.
Horrible Harris is from there, right? I’d be surprised if Joe wasn’t just a figurehead, and Kamala’s been the real POTUS this whole time. Good luck trying to talk sense to a Californian in power.
There are actually quite a few Californians that have been given cabinet positions in Biden’s administration. He explicitly wants the rest of the country to become California.
A lot of people aren't even having kids. They've brought in immigrants for that too. If you think about it, if you don't have any kids, why care about the future. Just got to keep things together long enough to live out your days.
People stopped being the kind of dumbasses that post this stuff online, under the watch of the FBI.
Nothing. I still think it's going to happen, regardless of what we want.

Now they're about to riot over the Chauvim trial.

Or lockdowns or shuttering half the small businesses or mask mandates or enforced distancing or....
Yup, we are getting closer everyday.
The lines aren't geographically drawn. It's basically the entire US vs an even spread of malignant tumors.
it glow in the dark.
People wrote a very stern letter! Practically the same thing, really.

Who's the Trunalimprzure Advisor?
It's the Harris Administration, Biden is just there so men don't realise women own the post pandemic world until it's too late.
Life's too good right now. Why rebel when all the stuff happening will only ruin your kids life and not your own?
