In a way, I'm not surprised. Socially inept people get power and fame. Look at him, Patrick Rothfuss, Wil Wheaton, etc. They just can't help themselves, now they are finally the people who can be the bully assholes. In movies/shows it's even worse, as young actresses are often the titty bimbos who didn't talk to them in high school.

On the other hand, these young actresses are exactly the kind of people who buy into debasing themselves for some cheap fame. Do you think Weinstein had to rape all those actresses? HAH. They took that dick and many more for getting ahead.

I just looked up this woman. She is vacuous, vain, typical B-lister. She did full nudity on Playboy to "feel pretty". I bet my ass she was more than happy to take that creep's shit, because she is the exact kind that buys the idea that taking a dick in every hole is empowering.

All in all, I feel showbiz is filled with people who deserve each other and nothing more.

All in all, I feel showbiz is filled with people who deserve each other and nothing more.

Not only them, but the media-power-consumers who can't live without keeping up with everything going on in their favorite shows. They all seem to have massive holes in their lives (no pun intended) that they co-dependently fill for each other.

There do seem to be some genuinely decent and competent people in Hollywood, but not many.

In his case it's just being a dick to his fans, looking down on "normies", acting like everyone is below him.
This includes acting disgusted when he needs to interact with fans, demanding people donate to his charity or else they are assholes, saying he can't write because he has a kid he wants to hang out with (working class people are bad parents, apparently), etc.
He is just up his own ass and a lazy, lying piece of shit.

I read Name of the Wind and thought it was awesome.

Aferwards, when I found out what a bullying, nasty manchild Rothfuss is, it left a very sour taste in my mouth.

And yeah, his "charity" -- Worldbuilders is a total scam. It pays large amounts of funds to rent a warehouse owned by Elodin LLC (aka, Patrick Rothfuss himself), and donates a very small amount of money to actual charity. Stay away.

I think I read The Wise Man's Fear, and that was one of the final sci-fi books I touched since my life was mostly wage-slaving and I took to other hobbies to burn steam.

Can't believe that was in 2011 and this fucker still hasn't released a sequel. Why's he trying to be GRRM? On the bright side, the sequel didn't really live up to The Name of the Wind, so maybe his fans won't feel too bad.

I think he knows deep down he's never gonna do better than Name of the Wind. His story setup is way too ambitious and he'll never pull it off right, and he's narcissistic enough that he'd much rather rest on his laurels than risk failure.

I agree, out of curiosity I looked up what Scott Lynch did since then and it's not better. He spat out The Republic of Thieves at the end of 2013 and has 4 novels listed on Wikipedia as "forthcoming", maybe with 1 title this year.

The Lies of Locke Lamora falls under the same trappings -- great book, requires an incredible amount of skill to retain that type of quality, and he fell short.

She accuses Whedon of being an extreme and unrepentant douche. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, it certainly isn't to me. But the whole "he weaponized my womanhood against me" is an escalation that the world does not need. That's just victimology.

I'd sympathize without the "I'm piling on now because he fired that poor black man playing Cyborg" and "I dealt with it at the time but later decided it was predatory after a therapist told me it was." You've become a weaker and less famous person over time and want to attach to a current topic. Classy.

I 100% believe he drove her from Angel because she got pregnant and he didn't like that she was a Christian. I COMPLETELY believe that he'd insinuate that she should have an abortion to save her job. Joss is a shit stain who walks upright like a human man. But I have no sympathy because of how this story was delivered. Tell the story, but don't cry the river.

She was fired for getting pregnant. That's literally using her womanhood against her.

Go be a Mom instead of being a shit tier parent and foisting your kid off on some daycare service.

because women dont have agency right?? were not supposed to treat them like adults??? She didnt close her legs and now she has a bun in the oven, what, do you expect the employer just to pay her wage for NOT working??

No woman, in this day and age (outside of horrendous circumstance) has an excuse for getting pregnant unless its planned, and all women should know that plan involves NOT working. Women need to grow up if this is their expectation.

Nah, she was written out (read: fired) for getting pregnant and refusing to abort.

As much of a wankstain as Joss is, this is just her post-wall self trying to jump back on the #MeToo bandwagon that she missed the first time it ran over Joss, back when his ex-wife had him by the short-and-curlies and was exposing his shit to the world. She can take her B-list self and move on down the road, because she was never an "actress" of any major level of talent and the only thing anyone remembers her for is being "the good-looking bitchy one" on Buffy and the sidekick on Angel, twenty-odd years ago.

Hell, I felt really old when I looked it up. Buffy originally premiered in 1997 - nearly 24 years ago. I can remember watching that with my friends back in college, and it doesn't feel like it's been that long. Now I know how my dad felt when he talked to me about watching the old Adam West Batman series when I watched it with him as a kid, in syndicated re-runs.

I feel you. I can recall watching the original Star Wars (back before they started tacking the "A New Hope" tagline on it) while standing on the backseat of my parent's car at the drive-in when I was a tyke. Pop culture experiences like that are few and far between these days.

Nah, these rumors about joss have been around for a long time. Like back when these shows were first-run television.

Oh, I'm not saying they weren't around back then. I think I can recall rumblings on the fan board back in the day. What I was getting at was her timing. It's awfully convenient of her to jump back on the bandwagon with her story now that Joss is being taken to task over mistreating a black actor, when she could have spoken up at any time before now - doubly so when the #MeToo movement was in full swing and people accusing Joss were crawling out of the woodwork. She missed that clout on the first go-around, so she's going for a low-rent bump on it now that she's hit 50 and not being considered for any roles, anywhere. Sure, her story of how Joss was an absolute prick to her needs to be told, but I really feel like this was more of a tactical revelation than something that comes from the heart.

I would say reset the counter, but even that's getting old.

Imagine my shock when members of an ideology based around bullying people into submission will do the same shit in their personal lives too.

Sounds like a demanding and probably shitty, manipulative boss, and her mistreatment had nothing specific to do with her being a woman aside from the fact that pregnancy happens only to women.
