Idk what Canada's constitution is like. Mask """""mandates""""" are blatantly color of law bullshit in the states, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian constitution was more permissive of it.
Quebec bans education in English to citizens whose parents did not go to school in English. That went into effect ages ago. The government doesn't give a fuck about the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and hasn't for a long time.
They always point to these anti-maskers as if they are just around everywhere. I don't think I've seen a face in public in 9 months now in the city. Even in the country where I expected it to see more faces, we're at 80-90% compliance. That's in places like Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky. So, I'm supposed to believe in Canada of all places where it seems the populace is even less defiant, that there are just hordes of maskless people going around to the point that they are the reason for virus spread?
That argument is even working under the assumption that wearing a napkin on your face while walking around the grocery store provides any reduction in disease spread at all.
That's what fucking annoys me. I'm in a bluish part of a red state, we are probably more like 95% compliant and no fucking difference versus the redder parts of the state.
My guess would be masks only actually help with fomites (which makes sense or we wouldn't cover our mouth when we sneeze) but doesn't do shit for droplets or aerosols.
Stupid fucking government should have just spent a fraction of those trillions to subsidize employees to take temps outside of businesses. They didn't because "muh asymptomatic spreaders". Maybe temps would only work 90% but masks only work maybe 1% (and that's the pro-mask figure btw).
Another intellectually dishonest part of this whole exercise is how the mask mandates came about in Ontario.
The mandatory mask mandates were all implemented like dominoes at the municipal/public health district level all across the province in near unison in late June/early July when case numbers were at all time lows on the downswing after the first wave.
So not only are they mandates undemocratic and questionably unconstitutional, they are also arbitrary and completely ineffective.
In England people can be fined $350 for not masking in public. Repeat offenders face even bigger fines. In Manchester recently, a woman who had been warned not to hold a party after her brother-in-law’s funeral did so anyway. She invited 35 people and was shocked to be fined $17,560.
“We had been at the graveyard and we were frozen,” she complained. “And we just wanted to bring my mum and sister back and give them a bit of food. It wasn’t a party, it wasn’t a wake.”
In Saskatchewan, the owner of a Regina bar, Mr. D’s Stats Cocktails and Dreams, fined $14,000 for not distancing patrons at a cage-fighting event (presumably virtual), complained she was “targeted” by police. Yes, she was.
These two speak for fools planetwide. Anti-maskers, whether they call themselves that or not, are all saying the same thing. The rules shouldn’t apply to them.
Comforting loved ones after a death in the family makes you a fool, according to this dumbass.
There should be no exceptions, so it’s worrying that nobody really knows what the medical exceptions are in Ontario. You just say you have one. The man who smashed up a Downsview convenience store on Tuesday after being asked to cover his face just with his shirt claimed he had a medical exemption. At this point, if you’re healthy enough to venture outside, you can do it in a mask even if you find it uncomfortable mentally or physically.
This person clearly knows fuck all about this subject because there are a multitude of legitimate medical reasons why some people cannot wear them
In this article, she frames it like anti-maskers are cheaters who think the rules should apply to them and not others. This is incorrect. A more honest way of phrasing it would be "Anti-maskers think the rules aren't for anyone."
The longer this goes on, the more and more I start to look at every cartoony villain who's ever said 'some people are born to rule, and some people are born to be ruled,' and nod my head in increasing understanding and comprehension.
Look at the latest American mess. Look at Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who says the California wildfires were caused by a secret Jewish space laser and that Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi should be executed. She was just promoted. I don’t know if that kind of madness will pop up in Canada, but we have to keep a lid on things. That means enforcing compulsory face-masking and in a very public way.
Merde... How... The hell... Do you get some mental leap from "Jewish space lasers, what a loon, right?" to "masks solve Jewish space lasers"?
I didn't delete anything in that quote, that's literally the flow of thought: Jewish Space Lasers, therefore masks.
Oh God of Abraham, if Your Chosen People indeed do have a Jewish Space Laser, please, let its judgment rain down, for if someone can be that mentally skipping and still be employed in this low-jobs environment, we deserve it. Bring on the Jewish Space Laser, Do not let masks distract you, great YHWH, Jehova, Alpha and Omega. Let your Jewish Space Laser judgment come, whether we wear masks or not.
I note that doesn't say "laws".

So far the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms hasn't held up for shit to protect citizens from arbitrary and unprecedented COVID laws to date.
It seems like it's only useful as a weapon for loonies to claim victimhood before arms length kangaroo court Human Rights Tribunals

Not religious or even Xtian, but when Yanis dingdong-woman-man gets more from the Charter than Church-goers, you know what National Toilet Paper is.
Okay, Heather. Let's start with the women.
Drink bleach, dox bot.
Ooooh, look at Mr Money Bags who's too big to earn up to $4000 within 3 days.
Only if they sold. Down 50% today.
Which doesn't matter, since I just like the stock.
damn they've moved to comments.
At this point, if you're healthy enough to venture outside, you can do it without a mask, or you aren't healthy enough to venture outside.
This.
I want to see more push back along the lines of "if you're still scared of the virus then stay home you coward".
Save a click Photo: Double masked. Haaaaaaaaaa

Don't forget: people wearing masks completely wiped out the flu this year, but people not wearing masks allowed covid-19 to spread like wildfire.

So, a woman in the UK can murder her partner and walk off with no charge - but breaking the virus rules is a no no.

Some people just love the taste and feeling of boot.
