The Berlin Wall was no doubt ugly and heartbreaking. But the economic and geopolitical stability it ensured also gave the GDR the chance to build a society that was broadly characterized by modest prosperity and social equality between classes and genders.
They might want that. But most don't want their name on it. Make their name stick, and make it clear that it's their fault.

God, I still don't get how there are seemingly so many people on this sub - of all the subs, given what started it - that don't get how basically how much power having control of the media provides. All has transpired over the last five years - all of it - was enabled by their control of the media.
How in the fuck are you going to "make it stick", and "make them assume blame", when the only people you are going to reach are those that already oppose the left? Other than the people firmly on the right side of the political spectrum, the left has near total control over the narrative that more than half (the leftist half, and the average people in the middle) are fed. TOTAL. FUCKING. CONTROL.
This - and this alone - is why the left is able to get away with all the stuff the get away with. When you have the power to decide what becomes a story, and what doesn't become a story; when you have the power to have all of the entertainment media people consume have a leftist bias; when you have the ability to make little blurbs appear next to anything your political opponents tweet, calling into question its "veracity"; when you have the ability to fucking outright indoctrinate more than half the country? You can do whatever the fuck you want. The other side is basically powerless to do anything about it.
Until the media is dealt with, the right is done. They need to wake the fuck up, and realize that. The fact they were able to do what they did this election, is going to embolden them so much, it's going to be unbelievable. Think about all the stuff that went on just now:
They were able to censor any story that would hurt their candidate right out of the news. Someone accusing him of sexual assault? Nope. Gone. Gigantic trove of electronic documents proving him to have been letting his son sell his political influence to foreign countries? Nada. Gone.
They were able to run a campaign in which their candidate was hardly seen, and never had to even really lay out any sort of platform. He was allowed to "answer" important questions like, "Will you pack the courts", by saying, "I'm not going to answer that. People can find out after I'm elected".
They were allowed to let their side loot, burn, murder, and pillage for five plus months, and the majority of the public stills buys that it was some sort of "mostly peaceful", righteous movement. They want to eliminate law enforcement, and the places in which they are doing this experienced near total anarchy. Despite this, all those place still voted - overwhelmingly for the left!
They managed to near totally hide (again, from more than half the country) the fact that their candidate is clearly in (in the very least) the early stages of some serious mental decline. The guy has trouble speaking... at all.
They had total control over what the candidates were/weren't asked in the debates. The moderators? All of them were clearly, and wildly biased against Trump.
They were able to - for four years, his entire term - grind the entire country to a halt, and actually succeeded in impeaching the President of the United Fucking States... with no evidence whatsoever.
They were able to convince more than half the country - by simply ensuring that they ran 99% negative coverage - that the guy never ever did anything good. EVER. Watch the quick little vid from Karen Straughan. How many of those things do you think more than half the country (even people that support Trump) know about? The reason they don't know is the media.
This last one is a big one, and it was honestly probably the final nail in the coffin: They were able to use the media to create total panic over COVID, with the explicit purpose of running the economy/country into the ground, so that people would be utterly miserable, and then be more susceptible to voting for "change". Despite the fact that Trump respected our Constitution, and let the individual states handle things in the way they felt was best, and that those leftist states then proceeded to fuck everything up, the media assigned the blame to Trump. They "made that stick".
My God, typing all that out is infuriating. That's not even a complete list of all the bullshit, either. I just can't stand to type any more!
Just think about all that, though. It's great to keep thinking about "How much people don't trust the media", or "Look at how Trump broke the media! LOL!", but it's only true when you're discussing the roughly third of the country that is already on Trump's side. For the rest of the country, the media - the left - exerts tremendous control over what the public thinks.
For the next four / eight years (who knows! maybe even more!) you are not going to get anything to "stick", my friend. Everything bad that happens will have its blame assigned to "the remnants of the disastrous Trump Administration", or Republican "obstructionism". For more than half the country, they decide who gets the blame.
The left surely won't be happy with the mass poverty, mass starvation, permanent totalitarian police state and foreign wars they will get from the people they put into power via fraud.

Just months after leading an effort that would have defunded the police department, City Council members at Tuesday’s work session pushed chief Medaria Arradondo to tell them how the department is responding to the violence.
The number of reported violent crimes, like assaults, robberies and homicides are up compared to 2019, according to MPD crime data. More people have been killed in the city in the first nine months of 2020 than were slain in all of last year. Property crimes, like burglaries and auto thefts, are also up. Incidents of arson have increased 55 percent over the total at this point in 2019.
Council President Lisa Bender, who was among those leading the call to overhaul the department, suggested that officers were being defiant. Her constituents say officers on the street have admitted that they’re purposely not arresting people who are committing crimes.
“This is not new,” Bender said. “But it is very concerning in the current context.”
