Obviously I'm just an idiot layman, but it's looking more and more like:
-
The US funded unethical gain of function research in China to evade laws here.
-
The US released or facilitated the leaking of the virus in or around Wuhan, China. Either directly from the lab or at the world military games in Wuhan in late 2019.
-
China acted predictably and stifled news of the disease until it was too late -- whereupon they enacted draconian measures that still haven't been lifted (and indeed may still be accelerating).
-
The virus and the reactions to it shut down the global economy, fully destabilizing wide swaths of the world.
All of this to regain power in the US.
Remember - the democrats coalesced around the potato mere days before the world shut down. A contentious primary just... ended abruptly right before chaos erupted.
The flagrant law violations in several battleground states exclusively benefitted the Democrats.
Seriously, who won from 2020? China? No, they locked down too hard to capitalize on the chaos (which never made sense to me if they were behind the whole thing). The only winner in 2020 was the DNC.
I laughed when China was frantically pointing fingers at the US during the summer of 2020, but now I suspect they were right all along.
What we're looking at now is essentially Pandora's Box on a global scale. The economic reaction to the virus release is just going to continue to spiral out of control until something breaks irreparably. We all can see it coming now, it's just a matter of which domino is first.
But that says a lot more about the failures of the media than it does about Comedy Central. That's my point.
Isn't this being a little too harsh on Stewart?
Yeah, shows on the major 24/7 news networks should probably be held to a higher standard than a news/comedy show on Comedy Central that did, at the time, come after Crank Yankers.
This is honestly a point that a lot of conservative youtubers/pundits could make now. Imagine if Alex Stein (he of the "there's my big booty latina" to AOC -- which is very much meant to be comedic) went on a talking-head debate show on Fox and said "Yeah, I'm just a guy trying to raise awareness on political issues of the day by bringing a humorous perspective to it... you are the news and should get out of Opinion." -- it'd be the same thing, and we'd applaud it.
For an NYC lib, Stewart isn't that bad. It's low praise, but it's true.
While I agree with you, I still maintain Trump would have had Griner home months ago. In fact, probably wouldn't be a Ukraine situation so there wouldn't even be tension.
140 characters or less and this'd be over -- not because Trump is a fan of the WNBA or his critics, but because he'd do that for any American.
Far be it for me to defend the clotshot, but I did see some data earlier today (forgive me it's past 1am and I don't have it handy) -- regarding all-cause mortality among 0-14 in the UK (iirc) and it showed an actual decrease in coof cases in a very narrow window, something like... 2-8 weeks post-shot.
After those 8 weeks the immune systems appear to be damaged (higher mortality than before the shots), but there's certainly no coof protection.
I'd believe there is some nominal effect that lasts for a month, maybe slightly more. But to get that nominal effect you need to open yourself to the risk of myocarditis and worse -- long-term effects that have not yet manifested.
What happens if these spike proteins misfold and become prions in... 1:100 people that took the shots? That's 9 figures of people dying horrible deaths -- and it's completely possible. We have no idea.
At some level this is just human nature -- people want to be led, they want to trust the people they've given authority to.
But you're not supposed to check your critical thinking at the door, either!
Most of these terrible leaders were just that -- terrible leaders following corrupt people above them. Keep in mind that shouldn't excuse them, just like it didn't at the Nuremberg trials, either.
It tells you that they're benefitting directly from the border crisis.
Considering how easily they spend the people's money they could fund a wall in a heartbeat. It'd be an easy win for them and they could probably put a ton of pork on it and most would still swallow it... but they won't do it.
John Kennedy should really be more famous. He's intelligent and quick witted, and I don't think he's corrupt... but that's a dangerous assumption with politicians.
I taught English in Korea. One year, they hired a black teacher.
But only after they held a meeting of the Korean faculty to vote on whether they'd allow it, and then a vote of the parents to see if they'd allow it. I have no idea how close the votes were or weren't, but they hired a black teacher.
First day she's there, I'm in my high-level 6th grade class and this kid asks "hey teacher, what's a nigger?"
Yeah, uh, really glad he waited til she wasn't in the room for that one.

Every time someone brings up the word Midget, I miss Ralphie May a little bit more. They would have tried to cancel him worse than Chappelle.
No. It's not that.
EVs today are what cars of the 1890s were: technically functional but probably more of a pain in the ass than the previous technology (horses) for most situations.
Once making a reliable car became cheap enough to mass produce them, everyone bought one. Hat tip to Henry Ford and all that, but someone would have done it if not for him.
I'm 100% on board with EVs -- just not until it makes sense for me to switch, and we're not even close. I wouldn't want one of the EV cars out there right now if I got it for free -- it's again technically functional but more of a pain in the ass than my gas-powered car.
Governments trying to force this shit right now are evil, asinine, or both.
I think evil requires intention.
People who do evil things but are incapable of understanding the gravity of their actions are seen as less than evil. It's why you need to be competent to stand trial for heinous crimes.
There are vanishingly few people in the world who are intentionally evil. Most people aren't good, either, just... respond to stimuli and act on the moralistic story in their head. It doesn't mean good people don't do evil things, it just means most people don't see them as evil while they're doing them.
It took me a long time to learn this, but it cannot be overstated:
There are two sides to every story. Not every side is going to be plausible or legitimate, but people generally don't do evil things without some form of justification in their own minds.
I despite people who cannot see the humanity in their enemies. How can you learn from a situation if you just assume your enemies are evil and unthinking sadists?
Right - I was very careful not to mention the big money in Aspen and Vail. That's where the CO DNC has power -- not in Denver where their voters nominally are.
I love Denver, too, so don't get me wrong. But the people there aren't that politically engaged.
Of course, because all that merchandise is connected to organized crime and they take Loss Prevention seriously
If there's a silver lining: the ingress of blue voters who turned Denver (and thus Colorado) purple are disjointed weirdos whose political interest goes about as far as the ballot box. These people just want to smoke weed, do weird outdoorsy shit, and plan their next horrible tattoo.
The conservatives in CO are much more organized, and were able to push back against a lot of the mask and vaccine bullshit. I was in and out of the state kind of frequently over the past couple years and it was always a mix of liberal stupidity and red state common sense.
Lot of experience with stand up comedy.

It's not an exaggeration to say things are really bad right now. Big names have talked about cancel culture, but the guys below trying to make it have to be careful, which has really stymied development of new talent.
-
The tyrannical and unconstitutional restrictions further dampened the talent pool for a solid two years.
-
Leftists aren't funny. It sounds like you're at a lefty hipster bar -- leftist comedy is not comedy so much as "look at how much better and more evolved we are he he he."
Whenever I have a thought to go to a comedy club in my area, I check who is headlining and vet them. It sounds like you might have gone on an open mic night, and those will always be hit or miss (with a lot of miss).
The left is pushing for a race to the bottom.
We will all be equal when we equally have nothing.
Does anyone else notice the media trying to make POTATUS seem more powerful than he is?
"BIDEN SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER TO PROTECT ABORTION"
...okay, how?
It does nothing because it can do nothing. SCOTUS was clear on this being a state issue, and no executive order can override state law.
Didn't stop the media from running 200+ articles about how he was "taking strong executive action."
Meanwhile Trump literally negotiated peace agreements in the Middle East that could and should echo for a generation and the Media only talks about it if they have to, and probably tries to downplay it in the process.
And water is wet.
It's a crack in the dam. They're now trying to get in front of the inevitable failure, but I think people are starting to catch on as they call for MORE boosters.
You hit the nail on the head.
Lightyear would have been awesome if that's how it was made -- a totally tubular and gnarly space adventure. Include some old school star wars references for the millennial+ dads, and maybe play off some of the trends of the day.
It's shocking how little the movie leaned on Star Wars references, considering the IP is owned by Disney. The Rookie was the big Star Trek reference but I don't recall many throw backs to SW. Ironically, this movie would have benefitted tremendously from a Star Wars type scroll (and perhaps naming it Episode 4 or 5, but I digress)
I actually saw the movie -- it's absolute dreck and it has nothing to do with the wokeness of it.
The plot is all over the place - nothing passes any logical scrutiny - there is zero character development - there is no clear message - the plot contradicts itself - no one is likeable - the ending doesn't make sense... and I could go on.
Entertainment aimed at kids doesn't have to be braindead -- it doesn't even have to be realistic, it just needs to be internally consistent with its logic. Lightyear fails to even do that.
The more I think about it, the worse it gets. And then you still have the superfluous wokeness as well. I just don't think anyone wants to watch a 30-something cinephile rant at how a Disney movie insulted my intelligence.
Not only that, the Diversity Hire Press Secretary said "this is what a Democracy looks like"
How I wish Doocey would have followed up "okay, you won't have any problems if Fox News leaks your home address, then? It's just a Democracy? I'll bring my loud speaker."
Call them out on their bullshit to their face. Even if it meant Doocey and Fox News was banned from the press pool -- why the fuck would you continue to go there to be gaslit and lied to? Go out with in a blaze of glory.
Yyyyyup.
I try to be very open to other perspectives -- see the common ground, see the other side, etc. on most issues. Raising another man's children (except in very niche cases like a young widow) is an absolute red line in the sand.
Single mothers are radioactive for male mental health. Just. Don't.
The more I think about it, that whole period was weird. Remember Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech? What a bizarre thing in hindsight - it's almost like she knew she didn't have to hide her disdain anymore.
