They have immediate and dangerous competition. Price gouging runs the risk of them getting priced out by their competitors

there's only a handful of competitors. if this was a true conspiracy, they could have easily colluded with the other manufacturers to agree to a much higher price. the government probably would have bought these doses at 10x the cost.

healthcare prices are ridiculous when it's the insurance or other large non-consumer base actually paying for them, even when there's supposed to be competition.

If most of your government is telling you to do a thing, be deeply skeptical about that thing and who benefits from it.

I don't like this line of reasoning because someone could say "the government wants you to wear seatbelts, so it must be the automaking industry lobbying them to make money off of this feature"

1
bobrobinson 1 point ago +1 / -0

they're definitely making money, but not at a scale that tricking (or colluding with) the entire world makes sense.

-2
bobrobinson -2 points ago +4 / -6

Yeah, the vaccines are at best a money making ploy

please don't fall for the bullshit posted here. the vaccines are rather cheap. if this was a money making scheme, it would have to be the entire world's governments and medical institutions that are in on it. it's also pretty cheap. surely they would have price gouged to a massive degree. the facilities administering the vaccines are making more per dose than the pharmaceutical companies who made them.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnlamattina/2021/04/15/surprising-cost-for-covid-19-vaccine-administration/?sh=620b163362e3

from $39 for Pfizer’s two dose regimen, $32 for Moderna’s regimen, and $10 for J&J’s single shot. For perspective, the price of one’s annual quadrivalent flu shot ranges from $35 - $41

You forgot 10+ years of possible debilitating illnesses and infertility.

where are you getting this? im assuming pulled straight out of your ass. regular vaccines in general don't cause that, and mmr vaccines are much shorter lived than those.

-6
bobrobinson -6 points ago +1 / -7

there is no evidence that these vaccines will cause any long term side effects.

1
bobrobinson 1 point ago +1 / -0

They bypassed the normal long term treating regimen

why do people keep repeating this/stuff like this? "untested", no, the vaccines are tested, and proven. they are emergency authorized, because there's a pandemic going around and the sooner these are available, the fewer people die.

the side effects are trivial. I had a sore spot on my arm the next day.

bobrobinson -4 points ago +1 / -5

ok go google literally any study about vaccine effectiveness.

and I swear to god if I see another natural """medicine""" site posted here, im gonna scream

-25
bobrobinson -25 points ago +4 / -29

and now they are claiming that these vaccines reduce infection and transmission based on...? Without that data, they literally cannot make that claim.

https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-announce-publication-results-landmark

Among 36,523 participants who had no evidence of existing or prior SARS-CoV-2 infection by the time of the immunizations, there were 170 cases of COVID-19 observed with onset at least 7 days after the second dose; 8 cases occurred in vaccine recipients, and 162 in placebo recipients, corresponding to 95.0% vaccine efficacy (95% credible interval [CI, 90.3, 97.6]). Among participants with and without evidence of prior SARS CoV-2 infection, there were 9 cases of COVID-19 among vaccine recipients and 169 among placebo recipients, corresponding to 94.6% vaccine efficacy (95% CI [89.9, 97.3]).

the vaccine skepticism is built on straight up lies. it costs you nothing more than 30 minutes of your life.

fuck off with this blackpill garbage

if there's any chance whatsover, having this attitude snuffs it out.

dont be a fucking pussy

didnt watch but best guess is that normies don't really have opinions outside of what's acceptable by society, or if they do, they don't feel a need to express it, so sites that allow that kind of speech only garner attention from people with those opinions.

bobrobinson 10 points ago +10 / -0

math isn't targeted per se, just that softer subjects are easier to fudge because they're much more subjective.

-1
bobrobinson -1 points ago +2 / -3

It does not prevent transmission or infection, per the pharmaceutical companies own admission

fucking no, stop lying.

https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-announce-publication-results-landmark

Data from 43,448 participants, half of whom received BNT162b2 and half of whom received placebo, showed that the vaccine candidate was well tolerated and demonstrated 95% efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection 7 days or more after the second dose

in fact, it's even better than 95%, because

Among 36,523 participants who had no evidence of existing or prior SARS-CoV-2 infection by the time of the immunizations, there were 170 cases of COVID-19 observed with onset at least 7 days after the second dose; 8 cases occurred in vaccine recipients, and 162 in placebo recipients

only 8 of the vaccine group got covid. that's 8 in over 18000

the vaccine absolutely stops covid.

preventing transmission still needs more studies, but so far it's looking like they do reduce the transmission as well, obviously.

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00450-z

I bring up the bubonic plague to refute the absolutely retarded statement of "when has our immunity ever failed us". the author must have severe brain damage or a total ignorance of how the world works to make such a statement, which sheds doubt on the rest of his claims too.

-10
bobrobinson -10 points ago +2 / -12

vaccine makers being immune is not special to covid vaccines. this is true for all vaccines, and you can still seek compensation from the CICP. if this was a big deal, why only now?

and the vaccine does prevent infection, and prevents transmission. this article claims that it doesn't, which is false. it likely won't render lifelong immunity, but neither does the flu vaccine. all that's needed is for it to get under control.

this was pretty funny though

Why, given that natural immunity has never ultimately failed humanity, do we suddenly not trust it?

ah right, our natural immunity definitely didn't fail us when 25-60% of europe's population was wiped out from the bubonic plague

women should not be cops, or in any combat or physical role.

-8
bobrobinson -8 points ago +1 / -9

...you know that it does, right? like with everything else related to the vaccine, they don't make definitive claims until there's enough research on the topic. still being studied, but all signs point to yes, the vaccine stops or drastically reduces transmission

-12
bobrobinson -12 points ago +1 / -13

a 15 minute process and no cost is way better than getting it and likely being sick for a week with the potential of permanently fucking up my lungs, or more importantly, spreading it to older family members who would have a real chance of dying from the disease.

it's really that simple

-13
bobrobinson -13 points ago +1 / -14

do you realize how fucking retarded you look with the anti-vaccine shit?

like everything related to the vaccine, they start with modest claims and as research on the vaccine is done, they can give a stronger answer to it's effectiveness and duration, and exactly that is happening. meaning: they're claiming six months now because they've had it around that long to test. it could likely be longer.

you would have to be seriously fucking stupid to think the government and these corporations are giving people a useless and dangerous vaccine.

the link from schlomo's (nice) reply is from an alternate "medicine" site so i'm inclined to believe it's probably just as full of shit as naturopathic "medicine" usually is.

this is the stupidest hill to die on, honestly.

how is wearing a mask or getting a vaccine "crippling your life"?

-2
bobrobinson -2 points ago +1 / -3

not guaranteed, but pretty fucking good

just like birth control isn't 100%

-2
bobrobinson -2 points ago +1 / -3

the flu is either not as deadly, or not as contagious. it's pretty fucking hard to fake the global death count.

you can wear a mask in public or get a vaccine.. neither of these are "crippling your life" as another poster claimed.

-9
bobrobinson -9 points ago +1 / -10

it's not mass insanity to want to avoid transmitting it to older family members
