Sadly I haven't been to the South myself yet, so I can't really help there, lol. Though I feel like even parts of Queensland over here would have had their share of "rebel flag bikinis", even fairly recently...
But I'll let you know if I ever see/hear of one in person again, ha.
Yup. But there weren't any "stronk black wahmen" in that (well, at least, not as major characters), and in fact, I don't think they race or gender-swapped anyone in that version, so...
That makes this "revolutionary", somehow.
Yeah, I only linked to it because every other "review video" was heaping glowing praise on this polished turd (naturally), and I didn't want to funnel clicks to the trailer itself, lol. But yeah, the vid is hard to watch, I must admit. And that's coming from someone who enjoys throwing the weight of the thesaurus around, sometimes, lol...
Printed dictionaries of any merit have always included metaphorical meanings for words like this, though. That's why they have value.
That's... Almost the whole point of why I have the coffee table-sized, 15-year-old one that I do, for precisely that reason...
Clearly Nickelback has, and always has had, some fans, otherwise the Rockstar video clip wouldn't exist, lol...
But I still see your point.
That's still a thing, right?? Even if it's harder to find on the internet, surely that culture still exists, no?
I doubt girls like that give a shit what TPTB think, and it's not like they're doing anything actually illegal, anyway!
Critic reaction video (pretty cringe and try-hard, but anyway) on the trailer for this itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6W9nIuSviU
This was explored in a film I saw recently (“Eternal”. Danish sci fi. Pretty good), except in that case it was the male partner trying to push the girl into an abortion, which she… Didn’t go through with, and then left him (saying more is spoilers).
He wanted her to do that because he was too ambitious, and thought being a father would “stymie his career/study ambitions”.
It’s quite a complex story/portrayal, but a lot of the movie is him coming to terms with that decision, and the fact that he never got to be around for his son growing up.
But yeah, was an… Interesting take, given that it’s normally the other way around, at least in the Anglosphere…
Funnily enough I went to the Q and A for the premiere, and the director said that the dude was sort of a stand in for himself, as a (now) single dad, and how he felt about stuff, but I didn’t find the character particularly sympathetic, so… Yeah, it was interesting, to say the least.
Employed a sort of “Sliding Doors” - what if -storytelling idea, while also exploring regret…
I think the Canaanites were the main one (whether they’re represented in the video, though, I’m not sure), but you also had the Samaritans (from which we get “the Good Samaritan”) and at least a few others…
Ignore handshake below. That’s… So false, that not even the Jewish holy book itself would agree, lol…
The Old Testament/Torah disagrees with you there, lol…
But sure, just ignore the entire founding myths of “muh Israel” to make up your own narrative - why not?
That’s the point of the end of the video, essentially, yes…
Yeah, I don’t think she was necessarily going for skin colour accuracy there, but I believe the first ones are caveman, then possibly Assyrians or Babylonians..? There’s a list in one of the top comments there somewhere, from what I recall…
Unironically yes. Last week, in fact.
I was going to point this out. You can't be an Anglophone (ish) "world leader", closely allied with US interests, and be that openly critical of "the only democracy in the Middle East", lol.
I feel like we should really, really stop listening to women with "ethnic" face tattoos...
Same with the freaky Māori NZ foreign minister, who turned out to be openly racist and corrupt ("Three Waters", I believe was the name of the scandal), lol...
Yeah, it's another one on the very long list of "fake jobs that really shouldn't exist".
Also, I know women almost exactly like this one (i.e. "founded" youth climate orgs) - they're generally selfish, annoying grifters and corporate climbers who hate men. Almost every single one of them.
Interestingly, not a single one of these types of organizations ever has a man at the top. Not even a "non-white" man. At least in Aus. Not one...
She's purely doing this for attention, and doesn't actually believe in any of it. As usual with such women/people. I would recommend not falling for it. And I honestly believe that she will give up on this particular LARP, as pointed out by others, after the wave of "attention"/simps dries up.
That is all.
I think I may have said that to you at least once, on there, I won’t lie…
It was extremely annoying, lol.
Yup. I’ve had that too, with sports and other hobby subs… It’s gotten to the point where one major Australian sport, AFL, has a completely pozzed, politicized subreddit (which banned me for simply being subbed to LockdownSkepticism, lol), but then they also pozzed all the off-Reddit discussion boards, too, to remove that outlet for the rest of us.
Which leaves, like, Facebook..?
It’s fucked.
These people don’t want us to have anywhere on the internet to talk, where they don’t control the narrative/talking points…
I honestly think (and this applies outside the US, too) that if you get away from the cities and the suburbs, you will largely find what OBrien is talking about.
Not always, but often. Unfortunately where I'm from that also tends to bring with it high levels of single-motherhood, teenage pregnancies and/or Aboriginals (who, no offence to them, are mostly not my "type"), but still...
It was the same in Sweden, Denmark and France, I found (at least in my experience).
Similarly, most of the (straight) women I know who play sports at some sort of rep level seem to have this problem. Some of them have used that as their "impetus" to start dating other women (lol), but for the rest... Yeah that just leaves more for me. Which I'm not complaining about in the slightest.
From what I saw in the video, Hannah is also like, several points on the scale more attractive than Samira, or any of the "examples" she presented to "support" her case, lol.
Which... Seems to be backed up by most of the (non-bot) responses she got, and the poll result.
Like, fuck, at least Hannah looks like a real woman, unlike plastic-nose over there.
Yuck (re Samira).
She's only 24 (as it states in the article). But yes. Actually was a member of "Identité Génération", though, so it's not like she's a complete hypocrite, you might argue...
Thanks, yeah. I'm trying to pick myself up again, and get back to doing Uni as soon as I can (if my Uni will even let me back in, lol), but yeah...
I guess I could have stuck out what I was doing in Sweden, but the cognitive dissonance of "This is fucking bullshit and I feel bad just being here, never mind the fact that I am actively losing money here, and am not allowed to work to earn more", in what was effectively a cult, made me decide not to stick it out. Though they did shame me for "being a quitter" when I left, lol...
But yeah. Unfortunately I keep getting very sick, so even when I pick myself up mentally, my body tends to... Not play along, or at least makes it extremely difficult. Which is just... My reality now, sadly.
However I'm trying. And I'll probably return to Sweden at some point. Just in... Different circumstances, I hope, lol.
Good advice, anyway!
To be extra cynical, she probably did it (maybe) partly to appeal to the older boys, a grade ahead of where she should've been, then, lol.
I don't have too much of a horse in this race, given that I'm not American, but I do find it weird that we've gone from even hippies liking Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers band, and the Dukes of Hazzard being culturally ubiquitous, to, in less than two decades (since the Hazzard remake) that flag being so supposedly "racist" that it is pretty much a "cultural no-no" almost everywhere, not just in polite society, and even Mississippi had to tear down their state flag...
Not to mention the whole tearing down statues shit that only really made its way into the West (and has now even reached my home city, depressingly) after Trump won, and the left declared open war on society as it stood...
At the same time, I would argue that "racial harmony" has gone completely backwards, people hate each other more than ever, and "violence" only seems to be increasing, along with the obvious political polarization...
Same thing happened in England with the British and English flags. Same in Australia (since 2005 in particular) with the Australian flag and the Eureka cross/flag. And arguably same in NZ with their flag... And the statues shit has carried through to all these places, plus Canada, plus even Central Europe of all places...
Really makes you wonder...
