Opposite reaction from me on the female vs. male designs, although less meh and more “not my preference.” I really like some of the more complex female fantasy designs (especially more Greek/nature-based ones). But with the increasing hatred/snobbing of sexy/boobs from everywhere, I’m always going to hold the male audience design in higher reverence.

The “gotcha” moments and braggers of anime’s quality I’ve seen pop up over the past year were MUCH more than they ever were in the past.

Google bots are still the most used technology for most search engines (including DuckDuckGo, since from my understanding some block-list sites just aren’t blacklisted on the Duck). Google is VERY ideologically driven. You’re not going to be able to pull up older articles because most of those sites will spout “modern bigotry”.
I was convinced for a bit that people were always puritans, but then I came across message boards from 2009, and any outraged people on there were quickly shut down by the gamers on there or the complainers accepted that it just wasn’t for them.
It’s all pretty nefarious if you ask me.
