We already talked about this in the other thread, but the boiling frog theory has actually never been realized in practice with established IPs. It's more like the frog is poked with a knife, then brutally stabbed over and over until it's an inchoate mass of viscera.

Star Wars had TFA, a billion dollar hat trick which people actually caught onto pretty quickly, then the Last Jedi destroyed the profitability of the franchise.

The Witcher had a mediocre-to-decent first season with butt ugly women, then went off a cliff.

The Last of Us was a masterpiece narrative due to the efforts of Bruce Straley. Neil Druckmann murdered the series with a golf club in the second game.

Tomb Raider 2013 was a decent reboot that made a big splash. Lots of players, fan discussion, fanart, etc. Rise of the Tomb Raider was recognized as middling, Shadow of the Tomb Raider came and went before anyone realized it was there.

Game of Thrones went very woke in the last two seasons, became a disaster of historic proportions, and ended the careers of its showrunners despite bringing in record viewership.

Moral of the story, these people are mentally deranged and can't help driving themselves off a cliff, much like the two lesbians who murder suicided their six adopted children.

I'm not aware of any other woke retcons. A bunch of necromorphs have been pushing for female space marines for decades but they've never gotten anywhere.

This is an interesting account, can't put much trust in it but fun to think about.

SoS don't speak. The "differently-abled" suggestion was pushed by GW but they don't speak by choice. SoB are too religious and Amazon thinks it'll be a turn-off. The female inquisitor in power armor was the last hope, but Amazon wants to be able to take the character out of the armor and still have them be powerful. It's all been a massive headache.

OK, maybe rage bait as well as "fun"

True, but also they often have wildly inaccurate beliefs about their core audience, bordering on the fantastical. For example, a lot of troons have convinced themselves that people upset about femstodes are the minority in the fanbase. Or that Warhammer is LGBTWUDKJSH friendly, in a setting where sexual hedonism literally enslaves you to a demon god and the best outcome for an aberrant person is to be overlooked.

Using overwhelming force to try to get Palestinians to knuckle down under Jewish dominion. Gee, I wonder if it'll work this time?

Yeah Dread Kindred isn't too bad of a name. I'm always amazed at how closely AI can hit the target with the right prompts. I'm not sure how kindly copyright law will look on a 1:1 ripoff though considering the Blurred Lines decision etc.

Also, where exactly is the line between reality and fiction? Katy Perry is a real person, but she's also a pop star. Her image isn't exactly real. So is it OK for her to do thirst trap music videos?

Counterpointed feedback:

Fictional women are made for the male playerbase, but they do have some effect on women. For example, women occasionally dress up as these characters at cons. And men, in turn, love that, which creates followers for IG models, which enables IG and OF thottery. This is why Jessica Nigri has a career. So basically point A inevitably leads to point B because social media exists. Does anyone care about this?

Dude everyone knows you have to have HR! Why is this even a question? How can you tell I'm on twitter all day?

Honestly any country that calls men women and vice versa is not serious. People talk about not believing in "sky daddy" that they can't see, but deny a physical reality that even a child can see.

The Stormcast in AoS are hardly important compared to space marines. Warhammer is swimming with female warriors anyway, both in fantasy and 40k. The problem with femstodes is that they're messing with a male niche that has been explicitly male forever.

As for games and movies, lol. GW is historically clumsy with game development and production. Without goodwill from the lore, they've got nothing competitive. TV and movie wise they're even worse. Outside of that you're looking at Henry Cavill's 40k show, and he is a true fan so he'll hold their feet to the fire if necessary.

I sympathize with your point to some extent, but I have to point out a couple things. One, there's truly nothing unrealistic about the girls in DOA and in fact, their proportions aren't exaggerated at all. They're realistic depictions of fit, obscenely hot women. Did this cause some kind of negative effect or hollowing out of nerd culture? I don't know, I don't think so. The DOA part of ye olde Fighting Game Community has historically been more normal and sane than the Super Smash Bros part. Funny enough, that's the only example I can think of a real woman who was competitive in the FGC or esports in general (Kasumi-chan).

I think your point is more properly applied to the hypersexualization of anime culture through the 2000s and the genre of shows that are basically figurine vehicles.

Also, the pursuit of "average-looking" girls is actually quixotic. The best idea anyone has of "average" is "less hot than X ideal in my head" which just leads to a communist race to the bottom as designers strive to include as many unattractive features as possible in their modeling. Maybe what you have in mind is 90s beauty standards? There's something to be said for that, but nobody had the word "average" in mind at that time either. Winona Ryder in motion is one of the prettiest little darlings to walk across a screen.

I question their ability to weather the storm. The whole point of Warhammer is unapologetic excess. Femstodes carves out the heart of the setting. The core customers are the guys who buy all the stuff and attract normie attention, so if you lose them, you're killing the golden goose.

Pirating minis seems to be the way most people are going.

Nobody's going to make a successful 40k knockoff, though. Space King by Flashgitz is a pretty funny series, actually a great product with a lot of potential, but that's a parody "TV" show, not an entire tabletop and lore experience. There is an insane amount of time invested into the 40k world at this point.

True but we all know that the discourse on hitting women is exclusively about men's actions

7
The_Shadow_of_Intent 7 points ago +7 / -0

This is just a really volatile topic... I agree with the bare content of the post. As you go back far enough in cinema history, you'll see women getting slapped, by men, Sean Connery or otherwise, and a lot of the time they deserve it. However, the notion that it's OK to hit a woman sometimes is incredibly easy to misinterpret and misapply. Most domestic violence is unrestrained frustration and anger, so it's safer just to make up your mind to never hit a woman and leave it at that.

From what I understand, feminism has greatly contributed to Japan's low birth rate. I wouldn't be surprised if stories like this have been happening for 20 years or more.

The_Shadow_of_Intent 3 points ago +3 / -0

There are legitimate narrative reasons to make a main character good looking, especially when you're telling a pop fictional story like 90% of the content being litigated on social media. That's all that needs to be said. It's a very simple issue.

This person thinks they understand the narrative reasons better than others, but they've only learned enough to fool themselves. A midwit.

The first two are true or they aren't. Are you denying that terrorists come from the west bank? I want a yes or no answer.

Yes terrorism happens in the West Bank, but I already accepted all the premises so you have no reason to demand this.

So you're either a hypocrite and know it, or refuse to admit being one. How interesting.

Who cares? This is irrelevant. Israel supported Hamas, as you admit. The only thing they seem interested in is ethnically cleansing the region to take it for themselves.

5
The_Shadow_of_Intent 5 points ago +5 / -0

True or false, terrorism also comes from the west bank.

True or false, the west bank supports hamas (aka, the terrorist group in charge).

Seems like a valid military target at this point if they aren't going to try to stop it.

OK, let's accept all those premises. Some people in the West Bank do terrorism and they don't stop them so they are collectively responsible and they should be bombed. Then Israel also deserves to be bombed for their war crimes and settlements.

Just like we helped Bin Laden, right? Or are you going to claim it's different somehow? I'm wondering how deep this goes for you

I don't need to talk about bin Laden. What I said is the truth: Israel supported Hamas to undermine Palestinian unity.

The_Shadow_of_Intent 6 points ago +6 / -0

I saw the videos of Israelis executed in the street. It's also horrible.

As far as the rest of your post, the Freudian slip mixing up Gaza with the West Bank is revealing. The West Bank has nothing to do with Hamas but they are getting pushed out by supremacist Jews all the same.

Hamas itself, in fact, was supported by Israel because they couldn't stand the Palestinians becoming unified enough to reach a credible solution. So they boosted the suicidal religious fanatics. They didn't want good neighbors, they needed villains.

It's very, very difficult to communicate the idea that the people who support Palestine are far worse than the people who support Israel on a forum like this.

The conservatives here are used to reflexively disliking the anticolonialist antifa types that carry water for Palestine. The problem is, we've realized that the Jews are responsible for creating them. The idea of the conflict as an existential struggle between clearly defined sides kind of rings hollow after that.

Just look at that Berkeley dean who invited that Palestinian activist to a dinner. He pushed for that. He's on video admitting that the racial admissions policies he helps to implement are illegal. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

I feel the worst for the Palestinian children buried under rubble. I'm under no illusions about Arabs and Muslims, but they don't deserve that.
