Hmmm.. I didn't expect the "at bars" part of the title was so literal.

Eh, I would say 90% of AppleTV crap is crap. BUT, they've got some good stuff

Severance (awesome) Ted Lasso Mythic Quest (got bored during season 2) Fraggle Rock Snoopy + Peanuts (including new, that are actually good)

i never understood that there is a general social sentiment that women are a good litmus test of a mans moral character. Women will sleep with a 130lb drugged out lead guitarist in a band who doesnt have a cent to his name and hasnt washed his hair in a week. Women will make a baby with a drug dealing thug who lives with his mother. PS: there was a thread on a body building form where a guy posted on a dating site a picture of an attractive man with a bio saying he was a 3 time convicted child molester and women didnt care, he still go their numbers and posted their conversations. Another one posted an attractive man with an obvious swastika tat, same outcome.

I mean, are men any different? You put some single mother THOT with multiple kids, no job, begging for money, but with big tits hanging out there and simps are going to be all over her.

People are nasty and make shitty decisions when they think with their pussies or dicks. End of story. That's why we need a structured society control our animal side.

She was a star and a monster player in the world of women's basketball. No exaggeration needed.

Not like I have any special information, but if I had to bet, I'd bet on a Caster Semenya type chromosonal abnormality.

(OTOH, Griner is guilty of domestic abuse, so maybe she is just an average lesbian.)

Haha, I saw the Passion of Christ in highschool with some friend (one of whom was black). That was the Mel Gibson film that was totallyin Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic.

Anyway, right as the film was starting this group of black guys comes in behind, sit down, and start chatting. Then the film comes on in whatever language came first, one of says loudly enough for whole movie theater to hear"Awww man, this movies in ARAB or bullshit, let's get outa here" and they all left. It was hysterial. My buddy laughed harder than anyone.

Oh I know, I started following several threads around the time of the alleged byuu suicide (which is still sketchy as hell).

I have run across at least one thread where a farmer was driving by someone's house and posting pictures (Spoony). That thread had several instances of "people touching the poop." So that's ... not cool in my book.

I do agree that the reputation FAR exceeds the reality. Mostly it's just posting the horrible things lolcows do and say online. Their own words are really worse than anything else!

Kia2 is the edgiest place on the Internet I post. I've browsed Kiwifarms, but I've never posted.

Shit like this is radicalizing me. IF you had asked me 5 years ago if I would have ever supported Kiwifarms, I would have said fuck no. If Kiwifarms is breaking the law, fine, go after them. We have laws for a reason.

I'm sick of deplatforming as political weapon.

No offense to small town lawyers, because I think they're very important, but Nick lives in a small town in Minnesota with a population of less than 2,000. The whole county has a population of like 40k.

I always assumed he was basically a traffic ticket, misdemeanor, minor-legal-needs solo practictioner. And I doubt he's practiced in years. Why would he when he has an easier and better paying job?

He went to William Mitchell (today Mitchell Hamline). Again, no offense to practical schools because they're necessary and important, but it's a tier 4 school (admittedly does have one SCOTUS justice alumnus) that is not in the business of training Big Law and major stakes practitioners.

I doubt I've seen more than a cumulative 10 minutes of Nick, but I would take his legal opinions with a heavy grain of salt.

Don't you get it, white people--hateful, backwards, ignorant, patriarchical, supremacist white people--selected a BIPOC as prime minster. That means that white people are good now, we can wash away our collective guilt over the fact that people in the past did brutal things! We're free, fREEEEEEEE.

But, to be fair, it does give google a very strong signal of where you are, when.

I highly recommended hosts file based blocking. Stop any network connection to the trackers and ads. (Ideally with something like PiHole). Can't avoid recaptcha tho.

Try this? https://rentry.org/voldy

I haven't gotten it 100% yet, but enough to create some pretty wild things.

If a solar flare hit earth, emp'd the entire Earth, I'm relatively sure a lot of us here and all the conservatives would be able to manage, these guys, they'd be jumping off bridges because their cappuccino machine isn't working!

Excuse me, it's an espresso machine.

I was in Seattle a few months ago, and I was SHOCKED by the number of homeless, the aggressiveness of panhandlers (trying to hand you stuff and then shake you down to pay for it), and the trash everywhere. First time I had been there since pre-Covid. Wtf Seattle. It always had some grit, but this was way worse.

Powell's books has destruction all around it, but no one went after it.

Lol, why would looters loot a bookstore? The same thing happened a year or so back in the bad South Africa riots. I saw heartbreaking footage of a mall where a music store owner was just devastated at the destruction of his store--just senseless destruction of instruments and property. Other stores in the mall--clothes, music, jewelry, etc., had been completely emptied out. The only untouched store in the whole mall? The bookstore.

Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Here's the copy I have

https://www.amazon.com/Meditations-New-Translation-Marcus-Aurelius/dp/0812968255

I have not sat down and read the whole thing through in order. There are parts that aren't really relevant. But, there's a lot of good wisdom and advice.

Yep. Wheel of Time was the first fantasy series I was really into. I loved those characters. My friends and I used to guess about what was going to happen (and this was largely pre-modern Internet). We use to DREAM about what a TV show or movie would be like.which actors would play which parts and so on.

When I heard a few of the changes for the TV show I just said nope, not going to fuck up my childhood anymore. I haven't watched one second of it.

STD and Picard are abhorrent.

SNW seems maybe ok, but I got bored after a couple of episodes. I'll binge it at some point.

I actually like a lot of Lower Decks, though it can be hit or miss.

Prodigy not my cup of tea, but it's not terrible.

I have a copy of Meditations. Sometimes I will just flip through it, read a random page or so, and repeat. It almost always makes me feel better. It's not like I'm doing any great study, it just feels inspirational or aspirational.

I have not met many, or maybe any, women who enjoy reading Stoic philosophy. It doesn't seem to reasonate with them with the same way that it does reasonate with many men.

My grandmother was a badass. She lived through the Great Depression, raised her younger siblings after her mom died and her dad was an abusive alcoholic drunk. Never went to school past 4th grade. Then, she raised several of her grandkids too when the parents crapped out. When she fell and broke her arm in her 80s, the Dr asked how the pain was on a 1/10 scale (meaning nothing), and that she would just take care of it at home by herself. She was an amazing example of LIVING Stoicism, but she was also basically illiterate. She was tough as nails. I wonder what she would think of modern crap.

I do both. I run a 4tb FreeNAS server. Now that I'm older and have a reasonable amount of spending cashmoney, I do try to support GOOD media, and for me that includes old Star Trek.

I also subscribe to handful of substacks just because I can.

KeeperOfTheGate 4 points ago +4 / -0

Hah, that's exactly the same reason I dropped Netflix--no more star trek!

I haaaate the Paramount+ app. What's even stupider is that they just lost the Trek movies. I don't think they're currently available on streaming anywhere. How bizarre.

I've stayed in maybe a dozen AirBNBs over the last couple of years. In my experience, only one was actually somebody's house. The others were just investment/rental properties.

KeeperOfTheGate 5 points ago +6 / -1

I don't know how to feel about Netflix now. I dropped my subscription a year ago or so. They cancelled many of their "woke" shows. And, in comparison to other streamer/studios, who is better? Amazon? Disney+? Apple?

Severance on AppleTV was great by the way.
