Not gonna solve your entire problem, but you should find another church. I have the same problem as you where I feel like I'm isolated from the rest of the members with the cultural barrier and political differences. (They're conservative, but refuse to see the problem) Eventually one member joined that watches anime, but that's not a big deal for me anymore.
I can only confide in my pastor, but that's enough comfort for me to continue learning. Right now I'm just training myself for family in the future.
I read a lot of less known manga:
- Ride-on King - totally not Putin being put into a medieval fantasy. He's obsessed with riding all the magical creatures on that world.
- Onee-sama and I - A sheltered girl befriends a giant in a world that has put in work to counteract transmigrators.
- Moon-led journey across the world
- Isekai Demo Bunan ni Ikitai Shoukougun
Back when I played Dota, this was accepted as usual routine. New heroes are overtuned so that people would be incentivised to play them. Having more people play them means more data. More data means the heroes can be tuned more quickly before being allowed in competitive mode.
That just means you can let underperformers go. And maybe achieve more with fewer competent workers.
Personally I think a lot of people that are in software don't belong there, but we really didn't need ChatGPT to push them out. The current wave of layoffs did that just fine.
That's not gonna fly for any established business, or any business that will become established. For one thing, you can't delete customer data and start anew. You also don't want to break existing links or you suffer SEO. Maybe you intentionally segregate rewrites to only stateless parts of your application, but at that point you need an expert human to architect. Or maybe you ask the AI for migration scripts, which is even harder for AI to solve, and hard to expect the layman to follow instruction properly.
Code/schema/system generators already exist for various parts of tech, and the one hardest problem to solve have always been modification.
I call BS.
Okay, this situation might actually be feasible for simple applications, but at its current state, I question the AI's ability to maintain apps that grow in complexity.
I look forward to it being a productivity tool, but anything that's complicated, (enterprise apps, caching layers, database indexing) AI can't solve at least for the next 10 years.
Oh I'm not underestimating them. We are in an uphill battle.
The "conservative" base is split up between people who want the good old 70's, people who just want the current status quo, and people who want to rebuild the whole thing. Meanwhile the enemy is taking ground left and right.
There is no easy way forward. I'm prepared to grit my teeth as my so-called allies turn on me. I'm prepared to be treated as a second-class citizen for my belief. Steel your mind to build your kingdom in a world of degenerates.
Pretty sad to hear this news. Ame has done so much for the sphere.
