Should we simply stop trying to advise people against drinking too much because Prohibition failed? Plenty of us have lost important role models to the drink, and the white trash and ghetto areas I hail from have lost entire communities to it.

The real world is filled with goals you should aim for even if you, and those around you, can never hope to achieve them fully. The process makes one better, and demanding perfection is always the greatest enemy of good.

Well the problem with this scenario is your phrasing is wrong.

"Hey I got this little trash caught, come get your piece" is a lot more appealing to barbaric animals who'd happily eat from people they don't consider human to begin with. And that's almost certainly how they speak about it to each other.

Even in the inflammatory hypothetical posts, you are still assigning more humanity and decency to them than they have.

CNN poll

I don't doubt it was successful based on my own eyes, but a source this biased and prone to outright lying makes me believe it less.

Either way, I think everyone on the internet hyped each other into thinking people cared about Epstein a lot more than they did. Principles and justice for a lot of people you've never met will always be secondary to things like the ICE raids with visible effects in most people's life.

It was always going to be moved on from if the Trump admin just stopped talking about it and did the stuff that people were happy with. You know, like it happened after Feb when Bondi fucked it up that time.

Surely, in previous times people would have wanted to "sabotage" arrangements, they just were not successful.

Well yes, but the technology advancements that gave us globalization and instant communication made them more capable and able to overwhelm what was a formerly defendable position and belief system.

But given the fact that it doesn't work, your solution is... to ignore the fact that it doesn't work?

Its a goal to strive towards, but rarely going to be an actual accomplishment

Aiming for the sky is a necessary part of keeping people on the optimal path while still accepting human flaws. Few people are going to remain virgins until marriage, but we should still speak out against sluttery. Most people drink, but we should still speak about the damage of alcohol and make some efforts to control it.

We will never reach utopia, under any belief system's version of it. But if we even put in the effort to try, we can still make incredible strides in improving both our own life and the community around us.

One of the biggest eye opening conversations I ever had about racial differences was talking to a Mexican coworker who insisted she was "tough" but also kept mentioning that her cousins would whoop anyone who hit her. Heavily implied that they would kidnap and do cartel stuff even.

The very idea that that alone means she is weak but protected, and that's why she feels entitled to act tough, was incomprehensible to her.

Its the exact same logic:

If we don't pay them well below a real wage, then you the customer will have to offset the difference for us through massive price increases

That's the entire business argument for illegal immigration simplified into one sentence. Including a "everybody wins really" justification of "business gets richer, customer gets 'better' prices, Jose/waiter is happy for the money."

I'm not anti-tipping as a concept, as I personally never had a situation where either it didn't motivate better service or I just walked out paying nothing for garbage service, as it should be. But "well if we don't the business will punish us for taking their pittance wages away" is the exact mindset we are fighting against.

I don't think I've ever seen such naked sycophancy toward Israel and jews before.

That's because its usually done quietly behind closed doors and you don't even know what kind of fuckery just happened until years after it was enshrined. We wouldn't even know about these "stop antisemitism laws" until someone was arrested for them.

Trump is just bullheaded and loud enough to skip all that and just announce everything he is doing for the ego stroke. But literally nothing he is doing wouldn't be done under almost any other candidate we had, because the Jewish problem is that deep in every corner of our country.

Adamrises 6 points ago +6 / -0

And if you argue against them successfully enough they shut down into "lolumad" trolling or simply calling you X label to avoid having to engage with anything you said.

One of the greatest evils plaguing us all these days is pride, and with it the lack of humility enough to say "yeah I was wrong on this" or even a simple "you clearly know more about the topic than I do so I'll leave it there." That last one isn't even an admission of being wrong, only that you are outgunned and it would only waste time.

2
Adamrises 2 points ago +2 / -0

Clearly it's not working.

Well yes, when things are sabotaged deliberately they often do fail to work. That is one of the reasons why people become so antisemitic when you can find "Jewish born immigrant" on the early life of every doctor or activist that started a trend that brought us here.

Conservativism has a lot of faults that make it easy to exploit and damage, often by appealing to our baser natures and natural hedonism. Its a goal to strive towards, but rarely going to be an actual accomplishment in a globalized world where it can be bombarded from every angle constantly.

The role model is meant to be the women in your own family and community. Your mother, grandmother, aunt, cousins and your friend's versions of that. A self sustaining cycle of strong individuals raising strong crop that will raising the next.

The idea that people must consume media to get external ideals and role models is foolish modern thinking accepting as a baseline things that are already wrong and part of the Woke foundation.

Adamrises 2 points ago +2 / -0

Any modern woman who heavily reaps the benefits of what feminists stole for them is one, even if she complains and tries to reject the label's baggage.

17
Adamrises 17 points ago +17 / -0

Conservative women are an oxymoronic state.

If they were true to the label they claim, they wouldn't be represented at all because they'd be at home being a fucking conservative woman instead of begging for dopamine hits on social media and in politics. Maybe there is a huge undercurrent of these women somewhere, but I doubt they are in huge numbers.

But by making themselves represented and known, they have already failed the litmus test and anything down river from that can be discarded as self-interest and women moments.

The Eskimos in real life are one of the few arctic tribal people and they are all pretty brown/red like all Native Indians are, and were the basis for all of those in the show.

The same way the Fire people were roughly North/East Asians and the Air were SEAsian types. Which is why casting a Vietnamese into the Fire Nation is retarded on a whole different level beyond how ugly she looks.

They pretend not to understand because they know they can't actually win the argument headon.

So they draw you out to explain yours in more words than is needed, waiting for a slip up they can pounce on. They even show you how they intend to do it on their shows. They wait for a minor opening, then blow it up to make you lose frame and come across as someone that can be dismissed as crazy/evil.

I think I do a passable job. I don't go around stealing and am humble enough to not need to brag about my life to try and win arguments.

2
Adamrises 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah in that case its absolutely over the line and the kind of thing that should tank a business entirely to have someone in thier management having the gall to try and shake you down for money.

Its one thing for an entry level employee to make that mistake, but the actual people running it is a sign that its enshrined and a genuine problem.

Shit some of my favorite comedy series of the last years (Pseudo Harem, Kuma to Usagi wa Tomodachi dewa Irarenai, Tonari no Seki no Yatsu ga Souiu Me de Mitekuru) all started as just little twitter projects. And the only difference between them and "professional works" was having a bit better art (likely from having an assistant to help) as well as coming out way faster.

There is no shortage of guys and girls out there willing to be mangaka, and the only thing keeping them out is the stigma of the backbreaking conditions and low pay for anyone but the top dogs.

Adamrises 1 point ago +1 / -0

I counted about 13, so forgive me just a singular dozen. Point remains unchanged by the numerical difference, especially as all your prior comments are just as retarded on other topics.

And my weekend is great, spending time with my newborn and shitposting here during her naps while reading some of my backlog.

And yet you keep coming back to defend taking from society dozens of times and then bragging about your life to anonymous strangers to try and sound cooler.

Your time, however small, was as wasted as your education was.

2
Adamrises 2 points ago +2 / -0

then no one will work as a waiter until the restaurants shore up the lost wages directly. That cost will then be passed on to you, and you’ll probably complain about the increased prices

I get the perspective you are coming from, but this is literally the same line that they use to justify illegal immigration and the need for paying those guys slave wages.

Its probably used in the same building to justify Jose and his buddies that work all the backroom cleaning and cooking.

4
Adamrises 4 points ago +4 / -0

Generally, the only people not reaching leagues above minimum wage due to tips are people so bad they don't deserve their job, or are in a restaurant/area so bad that nobody tips period.

Its why every attempt to remove the tipping culture and laws is met with incredible hate from the wait staff themselves, because they usually make fucking bank off it.

2
Adamrises 2 points ago +2 / -0

the manager had the audacity to come shake you down for the gratuity.

I don't know if its the same in Canada, but at least here the company is forced to cover the wages if they don't make enough in tips to reach a certain level. So its probably a common thing to make sure he doesn't have to give up his money.

Surely, you don't want to encourage overtime even more than it already is in the US?

Some of us work overtime willingly to be able to provide more for our families or our hobbies and would kill to be allowed to willingly work more of it without taxes. In fact, it would make me work less of it to get the money I was seeking.

Most people who read manga have libraries in the hundreds, both completed and ongoing. There is no shortage, twitter/pixiv manga are being posted by the hundreds right now looking to get tapped by a big publisher, and those are guys literally doing it for free/donations out of passion.

The problem, like always in this industry, is this company wants to wring out every penny possible from both its creators and audience while fucking them over just for kicks to protect imaginary coins they might have gotten. Which has reached a point where they cannot convince artists to sell themselves to the devil for something they can do on thier own.

Its just the dying gasp of another outdated media industry trying to keep its relevance.
