What about "fun"? Fun movies. Not everything needs to be fart-sniffing oscar-bait "A-movies". The reason vidya movies are bad, is they are "fun" games... That said fart-sniffing oscarbaiters then try to morph into some "a-movie".
I didn't care for Street Fighter with Van Damme...but I did like most of the parts where Raul Julia was on the screen as Bison. He looked like he enjoyed his part.
Berg's saying he feels deeply connected to the Special Operations community and wants to portray it with full authenticity.
I think this is probably just going to be a generic Spec Ops movie with the name "Call of Duty" slapped on it for nothing but marketing reasons. Sort of like Black Hawk Down except fiction.
This was a really stupid take because COD has been one of the best recruitment tools the military's ever had, especially when they had good storylines. Uncharitably, one could also say the same thing about the action movies Berg has done.
Berg.

Has there ever been a movie adaptation of a video game franchise that wasn't total shit?
Sonic wasn't bad, but then again the director LISTENED to the audience to redo how Sonic looked.
Strictly speaking, Sonic was bad, and the director then fixed it before irreparable damage was done.
That wasn't a test audience or a focus group, the actual theatrical release trailer featured that original design. It was 100% ready to go.
At best, they can make cheesy b movies like the 90s Mortal Kombat.
I think this is the issue. "cheesy b-movies".

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies. They aren't a faithful adaptation by any stretch, but they're good popcorn movies.
yeah, i think those resident evil movies were made with the main purpose of being FUN. no stupid deeper meanings and subverting expectations like now.
which is what many movies were back pre 2010.
This. They weren't that great, but definitely satisfying and fun watch.
Tomb Raider?
You mean the OG with Jolie? Because the new one with flat chest Vikander was dogshit.
Of course the one's with Angelina. They're the only ones that count for anything!

Yeah, the Modern Warfare storyline is kind of like a Tom Clancy adaptation with souped up special ops setpieces.

Gunship crew members have the highest cancer rates in the military.
Military recruiters haven't had any problems filling those roles with this line:
Kinda representing the devs if BO7 was anything to go by...
many such cases..
Damn shame. I actually like some of his movies but him saying that mind of shit turns me off from watching his stuff
They are pathetic and weak. Why else would they waste their time playing video games. Fucking nerds.
