Strictly speaking, Sonic was bad, and the director then fixed it before irreparable damage was done.
That wasn't a test audience or a focus group, the actual theatrical release trailer featured that original design. It was 100% ready to go.

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies. They aren't a faithful adaptation by any stretch, but they're good popcorn movies.
yeah, i think those resident evil movies were made with the main purpose of being FUN. no stupid deeper meanings and subverting expectations like now.
