Dear All:
In case you hadn't noticed my absence, I have been absent from moderating for a significant period of time. This was due to a sudden family emergency that required me to take on the role of home health aide. Our family was not prepared for this emergency either monetarily, logistically, or physically; so I've had to make many critical choices about how to prioritize my time. Unfortunately, this meant I had to prioritize health care, transportation, extra work hours, and minor construction ahead of you all.
Frankly, I figured you would all be fine for the most part. I've always said that you all make the forum what it is, not me. But, it doesn't change the fact that I have been delinquent in my duties to you all. And maybe I could have been forgiven myself after a few weeks of regular moderating and creating a good system for it, but after this period of time, it simply isn't fair to you for me to continue moderating.
I would have greatly preferred a transition phase, but it simply isn't something I can maintain due to my time constraints. Any plan I come up with is pretty regularly thrown to the wind, so I'll have to let the chips fall where they may. I'll try to check back more regularly than I have, but I genuinely can't make any strong commitments.
Thus, I'm looking for volunteers for moderation. Truly the forum only needs moderate moderation. Heavy daily commitments isn't necessarily required, as it can probably be mastered by a crew of a few taking different days.
Thank you for your time, and I apologize for the frustrations I have caused you. Please volunteer in the comment chain with your available commitment, and if there are people you would like to work with.
So far, the nominations are as follows, and all seem pretty reasonable.
The following users seem to have been nominated, but have not been stated that they are prepared to on-board.
That being said, 6 mods is probably more than enough for now. Having users in different time zones can also be useful for coverage.
Just so we're doing this all at the same time, I'll add the top 6 mods tomorrow morning around the same time I made the original post. I'll also kick ClockworkFool as he is alive, but basically doesn't use Reddit or Win very much; and exists as a kind of "David-Me" contingency in the event of internal sabotage. Effectively, I can just take that position as you see fit.
You will all likely need to have a mechanism of discussing meta issues internally using some sort of secure chat app (or you could just Discord it if you are trusting enough). Feel free to discuss among yourselves how to chat. If you all find that it isn't fitting well with you, we can probably bring the other 4 members on as time goes on. I believe C has a discord for generalized .Win moderation, but for the life of me, I couldn't get into my old Discord account, and I no longer know what that server is, or if it's still utilized, so it might be worth researching.
Something I've learned (the hard way) over managing people outside of social media is that friendship and trust are more important than competency, so please make sure to be kind to each other, be patient with each other's disagreements, and try to actually make friends. I wasn't ever really good at that, but I have more faith that you can all put that stuff together more easily than I could.
If anyone wants to take the time to learn more about the Auto-Filter (Liberty Prime), it's going to be worth it.
Edit - u/SophiesBoyfriend is also self nominated
I'm willing to onboard but I agree that it makes more sense to keep it to these six. I can tag in later on if need be but I doubt you'll need to.
I should also clarify that I meant we should add Tallest to the list of people who need banning alongside Imp and the Pedo Pajeet.
oops, that is an important difference
Tallestskil often has bad takes, but not always. He does contribute positively sometimes, so I would advocate against banning him outright. I agree with banning imp, though. He made some good points in the past, and I was even extremely impressed with the amount of research he was willing to do on a topic, being able to give me over a dozen links to research and articles on a given subject, but he's clearly no longer the same person. He's completely lost track of reality, and needs help. I don't think that there would be any benefit whatsoever with keeping him here, either for us or himself.
He has dementia, he takes a shit in every thread he participates in and he spams. He is an active detriment to this forum and an outsider to boot. If you're gonna ban Imp you have to ban him too because he is worse than Imp.
Yup. He's currently a schizo and a troll. No matter how you feel about his opinions, he's not mod material, by a long shot. He's literally mentally unwell.
I think it's funny Dom didn't get that.
To be fair, the latter half you quoted was about Imp, not Tallest.
BetterNameUnfound is a brigader from GreatAwakening and NOT a member of this forum.
Good grief, how miserable ARE you?
It really does love company. You want everyone to join in.
How dare I... (checks notes) ...not be obsessed with one and only one board?
How dare I be optimistic about the future?
How dare I like other things?
Hatred really does become an autoimmune disorder at some point...
Also just saw I didn't get the job. Oh well. I'll live.
I don't know what "on-board" means in this context, so how can I say I'm prepared for it?
Also, it's "Unfound," not Unfounded.
On-Board is military slang meaning: to join in.
I see now, thank you.
Thanks Dom. I agree with the additional names that have been nominated as well.

Should we make a private mod community for this? Discord is a possibility but I'm leery of that. Any other options for chats?
I'm fine with whatever.
Also, just like with Dom, the pings don't seem to be working. Which is weird, they were earlier today for sure.
Maybe set up a private community to start, then we can branch out later if we need?
Discord is founded, controlled, and operated by furries, so it has a left-wing operations staff, and should only be used for insecure communication. It is the easiest to integrate in with everyone else's life, because most people have it. That being said, of Left-wing dominated spaces, Discord doesn't normally do crazy shit like Reddit does.
Secure communications would involve stuff like telegram or keypass, or other encrypted person-to-person chat systems. It may not be necessary if no one expects to need confidential information, but remember that the previous administration tried to implement a "department of countering malinformation", and some people live in the UK where 12,000 people a year are arrested for 'hate speech'. I'd argue that under those circumstances alone, an encrypted chat system will be necessary out of sheer political risk of people losing bank accounts for saying "there are two genders". The Trump admin won't use Discord to arrest you for it, but Discord might co-operate with the Two-Tier-Kier government voluntarily.
Just so you know, the sticky and tagging people doesn't seem to be working. This comment is not at the top, and I did not get a ping.
You may want to message people individually.
Thanks for letting me know. That is annoying.
