It’s not the “win” people think it is, Detroit had 1.85 million people at its peak in 1950. The obvious happened and white flight occurred en masse. The city went from 30% black to 85% black in 2010 with the population lowering to 700k. It’s now 630k and blacks are down to 70% of the population with 5 police officers per 1000 citizens (average city is 2.4). The homicide rate also stopped counting people that were likely murdered but died in one of the thousands of dead areas that have been abandoned, or just haven’t been found because the area is desolate. The population is on pace to be under 500k by 2060. See with mass crime and flight it turns out the criminals also leave at a certain point when there’s no money to be made from crime.
The old games were okay, but clunky. Ironically RoboCop vs Terminator was the best 16-bit outing back then.
But to echo Shadow's point, I recently replayed RoboCop: Rogue City and it is quite brilliant for what it is (same devs who made Terminator: Resistance).
I would definitely get RoboCop Rogue City and the mod to improve the footstep sounds and the Auto9 sound mod so it sounds more like the movie. Having RoboCop stomp around and blasting perps to literal pieces is some of the most fun I've had in years.
The Robocop tech shown in the movie was well done and really paints a picture of a Big Brother future we are all heading towards (cameras everywhere, AI facial recognition good enough to flag you as a wanted criminal, real-time access to phone conversations or even private conversations held in a public setting). Otherwise it was a substandard movie that limited itself with the PG13 rating
Director made some of the best movies ever with the Elite Squad films, which in my opinion were on par/better than the Sicario films.
Director had some awesome plans for the RoboCop reboot, which would have made it a hard R, but execs stepped in and said "No" at every turn.
You can sort of see the bones of what he wanted to do, but can also see where he was definitely hamstrung. The best parts of that film were the opening when they were in Afghanistan.
First movie, absolutely. If you like it, the sequel is ok. The third was trash, the mid 2010's reboot was soulless. I never saw the TV series so I can't comment.
First movie is a lot like the first 90s Starship Troopers, so if you saw and enjoyed that, you would probably also like the first Robocop.
I liked the first (remember watching it when streaming first became a thing). Tried to watch the second immediately after the first, but stopped 15 minutes in because it was too depressing(at least the beginning), and didn't care to spend my time watching something depressing.
The first movie has some all-time great moments with the ED-209. Honestly all the 80s retrofuture boardroom stuff is my favorite part. The rest of it is pretty good as well.
If the concept doesn't seem interesting to you on its face, don't bother. It's not high art that you'll come to appreciate with a closer viewing, it's a robot cop that blows dudes in half with guns.

The two RoboCop games on Steam are really good. "Rogue City" and "Unfinished Business". They take place during the timeline of the movies.
I need to rewatch the movies. Also I think the shirt lived tv show is on Tubi or YouTube. Cartoon as well
The AA-level game that came out (Robocop: Rogue City) is extremely worth playing. The shooting is super fun.
Will check it out. There was a Nintendo or Sega Genesis game too if I remember

Will definitely look it up
Still haven't seen the remake. Wonder if it's really that bad.
It isn't bad. It's just completely bland. It's a masterpiece compared to any recent girl power shit.
It was made in 11 or 12. Not terrible but not as good as the original

Could never get into Robocop, it never looked interesting to me. Is it worth taking a gander at?

TV series was trash, but the spin-off Prime Directives TV movies were... somewhat watchable.

They're eighties movies with a lot of satire, graphic violence and social commentary. They take the piss out of everything.
