WB was failing pretty hard on it's own since they abandoned everything that made them the way they are to focus on terrible stuff written by bitter people who don't know how to write a good story.
Now they're owned by Netflix, a company that abandoned everything that made them the way they are to focus on terrible stuff written by bitter people who don't know how to write a good story.
I wonder, is someone out there just happy to buy incredibly expensive names with back catalogues of stuff that no one cares about anymore?
It's been just about 30 years since WB animation, and WB TV with shows like Buffy, Smallville and Felicity to name a few.
If they follow the recent trend of buy it and do nothing with it, Netflix will be hemorrhaging money in about 5 years and will have to be sold off too.
This. The WB had been going downhill for quite a while. They haven't done anything good with their DC properties in many years, and don't really do anything with any of their other big names either.
At which point the only company left will be, what, Disney Amazon?
Yeah basically. Whomever has the biggest bag of money in about 25 years is going to have 90-95% of everything in entertainment, the way things are going.
It'll be the same jews that own it now.
Don't be ridiculous! it will be slightly different Jews by then
but somehow still a holocaust survivor
The question is who will be holding that bag, the Saudis or the Chinese?
The jews, who have been holding it for the last century and a half, and who own all media in the country and have since the 1950s.
I think the Saudis and Chinese will be bought out by Open AI or something.
It won't be a big bag of money, it will be a ham sandwich.
Clean water and a can of gas.
The gas will actually be sand.
Just in time for AI to be able to replicate everything they own and make them obsolete
More media consolidation without a whisper of monopoly enforcement - very cool.
Of course, what else would you expect?
At this point, it’s not about woke-ifying existing IPs. They just want to acquire them and then bury them forever. It’s about cultural destruction.
Wb has been Jewish since its inception. It's just Jews exchanging their stuff to avoid losing control.
Their original name wasn't "Warner"
It's not like Western movie and series culture isn't already dead.
Amazon occasionally gives away a month of prime for free, which is the only time I use these streaming services. This time I'm struggling hard to find anything worth watching. All the new stuff ist absolute garbage.
There are a few things they have that are hard to find elsewhere, like the gem Nature of the Beast starring Lance Henrikson and Eric Roberts. It's a blast of a film --I'm not going to give anything away, but when I had Amazon Prime for free for a while, it was the only place that had that film (sadly couldn't even find a decent bitrate version of it sailing the seas).
Same with the director's cut of The Lawnmower Man. There was only one Russian site that seemed to have that version but in 240p or so, making it extremely difficult to watch. Amazon was the only one that had an HD version of the director's cut.
Exactly. They are actually using taxpayer dollars to destroy the society of the people whose taxes they're using.
It's absurd and why taxes and government spending need to be lowered immensely.
cool.. more consolidation of companies.. nice.
Eventually we'll get an FTC that isn't on the take and someone there will start opening up an industrial strength can of antitrust whoop-ass on a lot of these companies.
Do Alphabet (Google, Youtube etc.) first. Then start taking apart all these monolithic media companies.
It's going to have to be after Trump is gone, though. I can't see him going after Larry "Israel first" Ellison. Especially after he wrapped up TikTok with a bow and pretty much gave it to him as a Hanukkah gift.
The real question is will movie theaters be bought by the government and maintained or will they just die off?
They'll die off slowly, is my guess. Just like Hollywood, in general.

functional unarchived link instead.
this kinda feels like the aol time warner merger hope it flops just like it
I can't imagine this ending well for WB.
