He condemned the attack, said it was "awful," among other things.
His point was that him being held on bail is not in keeping with California's usual stance on crime. He was mocking cashless bail. And he was implying that the jailing was political. And he said to bail him out if possible, and then ask him questions.
He wasn't celebrating the dude, he was saying - just like we all do here - that there was something weird going on, and he wanted to get to the bottom of things. He wanted to talk to the dude, not celebrate him.

George Floyd committed suicide by accident: he had 2 balls of drugs in his mouth, one mostly fentanyl and one mostly heroin. He spat the heroin one out in the police car but had swallowed the fentanyl one before then.

Remember the facts: George had the police called because he tried to pass a bogus bill that the drug dealer had failed earlier to pass at the same location. Plus he was walking back & forth in front of the store harassing passers-by.
When the police came, he was sitting in the drivers seat of... the drug dealer's car. The dealer was also in the car along with some woman. There's NO way the dealer would let George drive in the hopped-up state he was in. George was a decoy so the dealer wouldn't get caught: the drugs were in George's mouth & no further drugs were found.
