Not just more critical of Trump, but more critical of the system as a whole.
In my opinion this whole ridiculous cover up puts another nail in the coffin of the myth of representation.
If voting for the first real nationalist in ages, who puts in the first real outsiders in ages, gets you...this...do we actually live in a representational system?
There seem to be certain things that you won't get, no matter who you elect, what they promise, or what they themselves want (I do believe Bongino and Kash went in with good intentions, Trump too)...if the people who actually run things don't approve. If the President and his closet appointed people not only don't have the freedom to do something like expose compromised criminals who are working against us, but actually are forced to run cover for them...yeah, the entire concept of representation is a lie.
That's the real takeaway here. It's all bunk.

By the way, while this article frames it as 'America' (because that's what the study is about), I've seen similar studies on Europe. The only great achievement of so called democracy is persuading us that we live in a democracy.

The 2014 study doesn't seem very convincing or empirical if it amounted to two academics reviewing old popular opinion polls, then deciding themselves if the policies were implemented.
Not that I disagree with the conclusion, I just don't see how this moves the needle.
That might be the case, but it might also demoralize and depoliticize people: we had our best chance with Trump, and even that didn't work, so clearly nothing is ever going to change. Next time a candidate like Trump comes along, they'll say: well, Trump said the exact same thing and didn't deliver (at least on these points).

I can't speak for everyone, but I think I'd still press the button for another Trump-like candidate.
It's still worth the chance if nothing else. But I think I'm done voting for the lesser of two evils. This shit is a joke. I'll still take the chance on someone I like, even if they disappoint, but if there isn't a massive difference between the main-party candidates, I can't be bothered to care anymore.

I'm not happy with how Trump is handling several important issues, but I've disagreed with him plenty in the past so that's nothing new.
Agree with your overall point though that this admin is another reminder that voting only goes so far. Trump is still a million times better than the alternative, but anyone who thought he could actually clean out the deep state was always delusional about it.
That's not even what I'm asking. Trump and his team of outsiders seem to be running active cover for the enemies of America.
This isn't a utopianist, "he's not fixing everything" complaint. This is about that, no matter who you elect, they're going to be serving the war party, Israel, and the swamp/deep state.
Yup. I'm not saying throw Trump out. Grading on a (very sad and pathetic) curve, he's still a standout. But this highlights some very big problems in the system, is my point.
Yup, like I said, I agree, Trump is better. And I didn't expect him to clean out the deep state...but I wish he wasn't serving them so blatantly. Same for his people, who I had some hope for too. Tulsi has been hugely disappointing with her Iran flipflop, as an example.
At this point we have to accept that once elected, some men in black types visit everyone to lay down the law and explain the consequences of rocking the boat, at least hard enough to cause the passengers to get their feet wet.
I wouldn't go thst black pilled, I would see more people prefer to put an AI in charge as worse case scenario, they keep going Fourth Reich so hitting those deportations will be easy...
But I can actually see if Elon takes it seriously, an American Party candidate getting ELECTED during the mid terms if they have the right libertarian credentials just to hold a middle finger to the establishment on this. Thomas Massie, despite Trump's posts and talking, IS getting re elected from this, no doubt as I can see MAGA trying to send a message without hurting their cause.
I'm not black pilled. Not sure I ever will be, it's not really my style.
If anything, I view it as a positive. The more they expose themselves, the better. I'm not sure what the solution is, but more people recognizing the problems is an important step.

I saw that with the whole Iran thing. At least the base. Public polls suggest that 94% of MAGA people are on board, which just seems crazy to me, but maybe I have social media brain rot and MAGA normies are just completely different from those on social media.
The polls said Hillary was going to crush Trump. Polls have always been fake and gay. That goes double for polls claiming overwhelming support for Israel.
Consensus manufacturing is aimed at the politicians and leaders as much as it is for us.
