I remember the comic book collecting dust at the store. The whole all new/all different marvel was a ridiculous attempt to appeal to people who don’t read comics and whoever keeps pushing marvel girl and ironheart and Chavez needs to be fired. Since I was a kid and to this day whenever I go to the comic book store the people buying comics are overwhelmingly dudes. Yes there are some female comic book fans but the vast majority are dudes. Mostly white but I’ve seen plenty of Asian, Hispanic, black male comic book fans.
Ironheart reminds me of the Eric July quote “modern comics are made for 14 year old girls who don’t read comic books”. Comic industry started the whole “let’s cater to girls who have no interest in the hobby” strategy that gaming stupidly stepped into
Yep. Manga/anime already has something for everyone. They understand their audiences way better. For some reason western entertainment thinks lgbt is 90% of the country
Yeah. West seems to forget about target audience and chase after general audience..
They dont realize niche that is done great can attract outside interest by itself... not that i like the idea of masses of outsiders coming into my hobbies or niche.
It's beyond that. Hasbro infamously was well-known for hating the fact their niche product MLP hit a general audience back in the brony era of the interwebs. The west seems to over-compartmentalize their products, and assume that if a niche product is good enough to expand beyond their niche, it must therefore be bad, and only a product DESIGNED for general audiences should be accessible to general audiences.
Agreed. I certainly miss the days when a lot of hobbies were niche and nerdiness wasn’t trendy. Like with Star Wars I remember in the 90s thinking the future would be books and comics and had a blast on forums discussing the books.
I remember the comic book collecting dust at the store.
They weren't made to be sold; they were made to be bundled into an abusive package "deal". Comic book shops have to buy literal garbage like Ironheart just to stock comics people actually care about.
And the women in that comic book store probably thought all the super-muscled macho men in spandex were hot. They weren't using the product despite the niche, they were just a secondary niche market.
I am sure this detail will be important for the meta-narrative that the porn parody which sells better will write out. Not sure how it's important otherwise, but good on them for making sure the pornography industry has proper character sheets for realistic scenarios of the characters.
The comic book & movie industry's line of thinking:
"Hey, we have to expand our audience to make even more money!"
(At the time all this started, they were sliding but still making good coin)
"I know, let's get more GIRLS to buy our products."
"How do we do that?"
"Girl stories, girl bosses, gay effeminate males..."
"Wow! So easy! Lets do it across the board!"
(Doesn't know or care that their 'base' will be disgusted by all this)
I'm pretty sure it was that easy. Dumb DEI types convincing the Old School that they would make Big Bucks by marketing to girls.
A reminder that Riri's first suit in the comics was built with stolen parts.
What kind of name is Re-Re. Thats what we used to call the slow kid in high school.
Black people names. Lolo, riri JJ. Riri was Rhiannas nickname before.
The kind Bendis comes up with when making yet another character based on his daughters.
Built her suit in a crackhouse, from scraps of stolen bicycles?
“Hey, that’s my armor!”

Its why they are trying to sabotage or co-op anime. If they cant beat anime, theyll just steal or make them lame/gay too.

I though we were supposed to watch because of the fire alarm chirp?

Any and all references in movie will be modular by design so the scenes can be cut out for regions around the world which don't want it on screen.
now i have three reasons to not watch it

There was a pretty funny Ironheart reference in this skit about Blade being cancelled.
