Two teenage boys, charged by police with the attempted rape of a teenage girl, had appeared in court Monday, where they asked for a Romanian interpreter, local media reports said.
Interesting they went with the "racial" angle when the two accused teenagers are potentially White/Eastern European.
The other "migrant" quoted in the story about fearing racial violence was similarly Romanian.
I was under the impression that Romanian & Roma were two completely different cultures/ethnicities that only sounded similar.

They were often associated with Egypt in the minds of Europeans, hence the term Gypsies.
The Roma name is a coincidence, but Romania has long had a high population of them, so it probably reinforced the name.
