Social Media only negatively affects Leftist mental health (youtu.be)

As it is about an hour long video, here is the TLDR:

  • While those who self-identify as Republicans are somewhat affected by social media use, they tend to stay to the mean once they use social media. Meanwhile, Democrats become exponentially more depressed as they use social media more. This despite starting at roughly the same point before social media use.

  • Those who identified as Democrats also were significantly more likely to report high anxiety from frequent social media while the difference was negligible in those identifying as Republicans. This was a completely separate study than the main one covered in the video. Ironically, conservatives with frequent social media use were actually mentally more stable than those with some.

  • In further study, this degradation in mental state tracked with Woke ideology, and there was a strong correlation that the more woke you are the more mentally unwell you were. Importantly though, the study further found that the Woke ideology proceeded the mental health problems (IE: someone would have been perfectly mentally stable, becomes woke, and it destroys their mind).

  • Many of what are considered the worst aspects of social media actually do not strongly correlate to social media itself, but Leftist ideology. As an example picked out in the video, suicidal ideation did not strongly correlate with social media usage, but did strongly correlate to having a left-wing ideology.

  • Men and conservatives score better on metrics of psychological resilience and stability, while Leftist and women were more likely to score low on those and more likely to display mental issues (especially neuroticism). Additionally, men and conservatives are more likely to put down the social media and walk away, while women and Leftist are more likely to stay on it for significant periods of time.

  • The presenters throughout the video say that from their own read of the data as well as personal experience being in the space, they believe the main reasons this happens is because of the difference in the online spaces themselves where the content is the problem rather than social media itself. And that further from that, the feeling of being in these spaces is different ("locker room" vs. "Mean Girls 24/7", as the summery). And furthermore, that the "Urban Monoculture" that the Left pushes is so anti-human and goes against human nature so much that the attempt to push it destroys their minds and makes them into host for the mind virus that must be spread (using the example of that zombie parasite that can infect ants).

Its the Left vs Right heat map thing again.

Conservatives see all the bullshit on social media and think "I have my family/friends/normal life so this isn't a huge deal unless it affects my world directly somehow.

Leftists who love rocks and the universe more than their own mothers freak out because every goat herder missing one meal in bumfuckistan feels like the end of the world.

The algos are so bad my son who makes accounts for every topic has to make new account very often these days. The algos try to make all the accounts into the same feed.

Yeah, I've noticed this. I make new accounts all the time and have to act differently on them to counter the algothisms. These algothisms are terrible.

I've just given up entirely on any algorithms ever delivering content I actually want. It's either socially engineered bullshit or just completely misunderstands what my interests are, because their whole "tagging" system doesn't even remotely resemble how the human mind actually works.

Improving of my mental health tracked very well with becoming alot more ''conservative''.

Taking some healthy level of pride in your race and culture/language and wanting policies to protect those, of course, is ''far-right'' in today's political climate.

It's easier to use fear and panic to control people.

Anyone remember the months, or even years after 9/11?

People were posting the phrase "Terrorists terrorists 9/11 god bless America" when GW would speak. Because they'd try and scare you. And it worked.

If you can be controlled through emotion, you have proven you can be controlled.

And it has been quite awhile since then. But we've seen that things like covid will make people gleefully turn in their neighbors to the covid gestapo for good boy points.

Nothing has changed.

Forget 9/11, you just have to look back to Covid to see that. I don't know if I'll ever forgive...what is it, eighty percent of the populace for just rolling over and doing what they were told despite how batshit insane it was. It's cowards all the way down.

They didn’t simply roll over. They embraced it. They informed on people who dared to gather in numbers without properly social distancing, or didn’t go down supermarket aisles in the right direction, or failed to wear a mask in their presence. Then they ignored all those supposedly vital, life saving protocols in the name of protesting on behalf of St. Floyd without questioning how odd it was that the world’s most deadliest virus was apparently socially aware. Then when the vaccines rolled out they swallowed the experts’ bullshit about natural immunity—which had literally helped humanity survive for all of human history—simply wasn’t good enough.
Anybody who didn’t come out of 2020 - 2022 without realizing how hopeless humankind is didn’t pay attention.

You're not wrong, but don't forget that enough people said "no, fuck all that" that they eventually had to give up on the whole thing entirely. All is not lost.

Trump’s 51st state rhetoric has been weaponized by globohomo & the Canadian WEF types more recently as well.

Imagine a country consisting of entirely California & New York-like regions suddenly enacting TDS in 80-90% of the populace overnight with effectively zero Republican counterbalance.

And the remaining 10-20% of "conservatives" are cowering Mitt Romney RINO types who don't like Trump either, but are too scared to say anything. So they turtle hoping to ride out the "Two Minutes of Hate".

Yep, especially when they implemented the Terror Alert levels that was constantly displayed on all major networks. Because it was so important for you to know that today has a yellow risk of terrorism.

I loved how the terror alert would always go up on holidays and the anniversaries of other terrorist events. Even though neither 9/11 nor the Oklahoma City bombing occurred on holidays or the anniversaries of any relevant events.

The Oklahoma bombing was on the anniversary of the Waco massacre.

The Bali bombings were one year, one month and one day after the September 11 attack, which is an odd coincidence if it is one.

the greatest piece of psychological damage inflicted on society in the last decade is the medicalization of the human brain.

They view their emotions and mental state as completely externalized, so the entire world has to make them happy/feel good/etc. This CRIPPLES any ability to deal with day to day life. These people flee as fast as possible from reality into drugs and safe spaces.

It’s like cultivation theory or locus of control. These things are choices people make, not inevitable or inherent phenomena.

I mean, its very easy to see why by just walking into each circle for a few minutes.

Conservative social media circles are usually angry, but hyping each other up. Its a lot of "fuck this guy!" and clapping. It might be building towards violence, or hysteria, but its motivating people regardless.

Leftist social media circles do a lot of the same things, but there is this undercurrent through it all of terror. They are constantly scared of something coming, of this and that, and they don't feel themselves able to defend against it.

That's what I constantly see as the big difference. Right-wing social media is scared of something coming but happy to go down swinging, whereas Left-wing knows it'll get obliterated if something comes and is trying to cope.

That was part of what was suggested in the video. Another part is that while both spheres can come off as "mean", they do it in very different ways.

As they put it, Conservative social media is like a locker room, where people will make fun of each other, but the hits are usually something to either take jabs at someone else in the name of mutual rivalry, or it is the type of thing that you are going to forget about it after the fact.

But in Liberal social media, it is "Mean Girls 24/7", where everyone is backbiting, gossiping, and trying to tear each other down not even to advance their own standing, but to keep them from getting up.

And needless to say, one leads to far more mental instability than the other.

Because groupthink is key to leftists.

Also they have much higher rates of mental illness

I wonder if this is only true when Trump is present. I wonder if this isn't the case when a democracy is president. I think part of it is that leftist institutions use fear of the current government to promote their ideology.
