Good if true. Perhaps it will stop Japanese companies from Westernizing their products, which people have been worried about.

But, seriously, my point is that if selling to America becomes much less feasible, there's no reason for Japan to Westernize their products, since America would no longer be a target market. Which would ironically make anime even more popular in the West.
We are already ramping up "domestic" anime crap via netflix, amazon and disney plus. All these 3 are making faux anime now.
Yup. It's also sneaky, because they're also licensing some stuff, so there's some real anime that's labeled "Netflix" but is still good...then there's some absolutely awful Netflix stuff that's just about as bad as you can get. Sneaky buggers.
I refuse to watch anything from them. I dont want these assholes making more "anime". Maybe if they make some straight up golden boy type fan service "anime" to show they arent faggots. Hell even a panty shot or two would suffice. Or a summer bikini special episode.. not that id want to see panties or bikini of ugly chars or female chars with male bodies...

Few times I say this is a BAD move as the US entertainment industry is TOO tainted, we need it to collapse to drive out the rats before we rebuild it better.

I don't think this is possible, but it's stupid as hell. Foreign entertainment is taking off because it's superior to the diarrhea spewed out by Hollywood. We need to work on killing its monopoly, incentivizing new studios to open up outside its bubble, and decentralizing the film industry (and hell, the entertainment industry as a whole). Not punishing foreign artists. Shit like this would just insulate us to the propaganda machine even more. The same one telling us to hate Trump and kill whitey.

The people who pay for it are funding the official translations you watch. This might mean a return to fansubs for most shows, since only the most profitable stuff would be worth distributing in the West.

Eh they can be good but a lot of the time they are extended episodes of series where the plot line wasn't long enough to be a season but good enough to justify a film.

I mean, most anime watchers I know pirate them anyways. 1*$0+$0=$0. The real solution is for Hollywood to make movies worth watching again. I am pretty sure that the Revenge of the Sith rerun that my local theater put on was more profitable for them than a lot of newer movie showings are.
