For a more video game related post, I am wasting great deals of time on Marvel Rivals. Super fun game.
My support main is Invisible Woman, and alas I have yet to find a secondary healer I am good at. Trying at Loki and Luna Snow, but nowhere near as good. Invisible Woman I can compete with on competitive.
DSP, I am maining Magik. I swap out when I have to. Mostly to Punisher.
Tank, I was maining Thor but the dive tanks got nerfed to Hell this patch. Main tanks or bust. Emma Frost is my cup of tea, as she is a tanky brawler with a shield. I was using Dr Strange when Thor wasn't viable but he got nerfed hard.
Competitive this season is a lot rougher now. Still trying to figure out the meta.
I got bored with it already. It's polished and plays well, but I think team hero shooters just aren't for me. And Rivals ramped up the thing that makes it feel the worst: there's so many ways to multi-target heal that it encourages blobbing up and makes everyone feel like a bullet sponge.
And the bot lobbies are an absolute game killer. You barely lose a match in overtime, having finally started to get a feel for game flow. So they throw you into a match with bots so easy you can push into their spawn in the first few minutes to reinforce any bad habits you were trying to shake.
I'll still play DM once and a while if I feel like an FPS but that's about it.
Haven't played this specific game yet, so can't comment on the specifics, but I agree in theory...high TTK shooters just aren't my thing.
Bullet sponges just don't feel good. I want to be able to absolutely destroy people in a few shots, and have to watch my own positioning to not be destroyed in turn.
For all the hate CoD deservedly received down the line, I do think the original Modern Warfare was pretty much peak; hardcore mode was amazing, and was well balanced between various viable tactics. Battlefield Bad Company 2 was also up there.
Problem is the flipside usually ends up with the game being a twitch shooter of "a single pixel popped out, instantly died before I even saw what hit me."
Higher TTK at least give time for skill to come into play in most matchups, rather than just reflexes and how good your graphics/lag is.
Both ends of the spectrum come with their flaws, which is where "hero shooters" should shine in terms of letting you play the whole spectrum to your own desire/level. But it never ends up working out that way. Overwatch you died in a second even as a tank if you moved wrong, this sounds to be the opposite.
Or how bad your graphics are. Turning your graphics down is actually an advantage in some of these games because they straight up stop rendering certain objects and effects that you can hide in. Overwatch was pretty notorious for awhile because some bushes and shit straight up disappeared when you turned your graphics low. I play CoD with my brother using cross play on PC and I'm pretty sure the console players consistently see through smoke and particle effects that their version of the game is just not rendering.
If the programmers would do their jobs then bushes would part and squish when people are in them.
They're not equivalent in any way, they're meant for different game styles. Low TTK belongs to tactical / strategic games. It's irredeemable trash most times because it's not done with the elements that make it work, like the garbage shoebox maps in COD. It's good for games like swat or arma.
High TTK games should be fast, and varied. Twitch shooting skill belongs to this type of game, not goblinoid bullshit like COD. Arena shooters are good high TTK shooters.
Moba hero shooter vomit is the equivalent to COD but for high ttk games - taking all the elements that don't belong to that game style to produce lowest common denominator slop for children.
Tarkov Arena. Getting one-tapped even through plates can be common.
Leg-meta is still pretty fun, though. Oh, you have class-six plates? Let me introduce you to my friend Vector and his .45 RIP friends.
Yeah I am, didn't expect to get into it cause I'm not really a marvel/super hero guy but it's a fun team shooter to play causally. Can't speak on the high levels of competitive, but I'm having fun with it playing a few games a week
In terms of team shooters I never got into TF2. Before my time. I tried Overwatch but the loot boxes drove me away pretty quickly. I played Paladins for years but Hi Rez has a bad rep for a reason. I am a fanatic Smite player, behaving been with the game since season 1. I want Smite 2 to do good, and I do enjoy playing it... But I am not holding my breath.
GET OFF MY LAWN YOU DAMN KIDS!
*goes back to playing Doom over dial-up*
ROTT over IPX/SPX for me.
IPX? Novelle, right? Lol. Used to play Duke Nukem over that.
I never played TF2 at all and didn't know anyone who did, but I played OW early and enjoyed it, but it got old and the diversity bs was way over the top.
Dumb question, I thought smite was a moba? Like league.
But in over-the-shoulder third person, with a click-to-attack setup, so it's also sort of shooter-like. It's not a real shooter-shooter, but it shares some similarities still.
Yes it is, but is made by the same company as Paladins. Just threw it in there.
Remember that according to Blizzard's own internally developed tool, Torbjorn is the most diverse character on their roster (at the time it came out, though by their metrics no one could possibly beat him). And it wasn't even close, he blew every single other character out of the water.
Looks like a good game for those who like that stuff, but I’m not the target audience.
Freemium moba hero shooter slop by the chinese. Almost, but not quite, everything wrong with gaming - literally the only redeeming factor is that it doesn't have western lefty cancer character design.
It's fucking cancer. Play some actually good games.
I've been playing it casually, just enough for the daily/weekly missions every couple of days. It's reasonably fun.
Healer-wise I prefer Loki or Mantis. Invisible Woman has a decent kit but the healing output isn't high enough IMHO.
Only tank I really like is Peni Parker. Decent damage, survivability and crowd control. What's not to like?
DPS I mostly play Squirrel Girl. Recently I've been trying Magik and Ching Chong Karate Guy but I still suck at them.
Fun fact: Peni Parker was co-created by Gerard Way.
Yeah, from My Chemical Romance.
I refuse to play anything made by China.
No. Not for me. There is no strategy to it. The best CoD twitch reflex shooter will always win so I may as well play a real shooter. The point in team shooters was supposed to be the evolution of the MOBA where the best tactics beats the one with the strongest ADHD medicine. And it turned into the opposite. Just not for me.
I do, honestly fill the gap that Overwatch left. In a way, it reminds of me Heroes of the Storm (which I played a lot, before the many Blizzard "incidents"), where they entered a saturated market by having more over the top or really weird characters.
I'm worried they will do the same errors as OW though, the balancing already seems quite off, and as a support main, it looks like the devs are really trying to make our life harder and harder.
I miss playing HotS. I was always very casual, but it was fun. Loved me some Rexxar.
Yeah I miss HotS too
I was a Kael'Thas and Jaina main
Maybe I'll check it out.
I've enjoyed shooters, although they're not my main jam, and I've even enjoyed hero shooters, although they're even farther down the list. Still, it looks sort of intriguing, and I just got a new HDD, so maybe I'll give it a go.
Yep. Still playing it daily. Almost at eternity now.
Been playing this game too since it came out officially. It's honestly pretty fun and been playing mostly competitively to avoid bot lobbies. If you enable streaming mode, you get to mute chat from team lobbies so I avoid all the toxic chat.
Meta right now is kill the supports before they kill your supports haha
All the heroes are free and the only thing that costs money is the skins, so I have no real complaints with the pricing
Also the female characters are all hot lol
Its the least woke of the hero shooter games currently popular. No sign, yet, of non binaries, trannies or ugly female chars.
Overwatch is super desperate lol. They are releasing like years worth of content in the last few months lol. But they still wont learn.. overwatch skins are still seem to be made by committee. No hot bikini skins.. guys, girls, and even trannies like to have sexy/pretty skins. They have some korean pop collab and its just skins with baggy sweat pants.. and too much gay shit.
And then you have valorant and their gay tranny chars too.
Rivals did race-swap Namor to make him African (or at least tanned + African-coded VA/speech). Not sure if that's something they also did in the comics.
Still miles better than Blizzard or Riot though.
Yeah. It's a perfect "pick up and play for 30 minutes" kind of game.
I have been playing Marvel Rivals.
It is definitely a fun game.
The character designs look great and all the female characters look attractive!
I play mostly Iron Man, Psylocke and Venom
Yes I bought the Psylocke Vengeance skin lol
It's a good game and a fun game but it just doesn't grab me. Maybe this is just what getting old is like.
i've seen streams, looks absolutely dreadful.
Nope, I have money so can buy real games instead of wasting time on F2P garbage.
Is this a sub of 10 year olds?
