The boomer mindset is built upon this idea that things will be okay. It was created in an environment that basically supports that idea.
Our society affords people endless retries, free gibs, and there is always a shelter, a food bank, a job, a used car for sale, etc etc. You would have to be a fent zombie to fail completely so they have this idea that things will always be okay and work out.
Go broke? Declare bankruptcy and start again. Get arrested? Commit a crime and some nice white cop who cares about your rights (more than any other society) gives you a ticket and sends you home.
What we see now is this system and way of life disintegrating and boomers cannot comprehend a nonwhite society.

"Boomer" really stopped having any specific meaning a while ago and just became a catchall for "older folks I don't like." Which is a fair demographic to call out regardless, but its diluted the meaning.
It was even a meme a few years back about "that 30 year old boomer feel."
I was going to say the same thing. How many people using the term boomer even know that it refers to the post WWII "baby boom" of the latest 1940s and early 1950s?
Don't even get me started on the term "boomer shooter", which refers to video games like Doom that came out in the 1990s when these folks would have been in their forties and probably not even playing video games like current 40 year olds do because they didn't grow up with them.
Yeah, in that way its deteriorated even further into just "old thing from the prior generation."

The average Gen x'er fought for nothing and took the easy route of neocon handwringing whenever anyone noticed a pattern. They may have called themselves "conservative" more than their parents, but they were conservatives who thought national pride was distasteful, would happily enshrine gay marriage, approved affirmative action, and toadied for feminists lobbying to make men 2nd class citizens both societally and under the law.
But they wanted lower taxes than the progressives, so they were "conservative". Gen X got beat over the head constantly with Boomer bullshit- those stupid fucking Rolling Stones lists, the Wonder Years, Star Trek hippie faggotry and worship of disgusting, disease spreading hippies. But as Gen X, most of the people my age are completely useless and keep their head down, get fat and are scared of confrontations. They have no balls.
I moved to a pretty nice area that unfortunately has a lot of Boomers. Holy shit, they are not like the kind, quiet, understanding old people that were their parents. They are obnoxious, stupid, inconsiderate and completely unapologetic about it. They clog up the streets, the stores and none of them have any purpose at all. Gen X isn't as bad as them or the millenials, but they're not great either. Most of them are complete pussies.
What exactly was the generation also called "the baby bust" supposed to do about it when tremendously outnumbered by boomers? And now that boomers are finally aging out, we're outnumbered and outvoted again by millennials.
This is like black guys getting mad about having crime stats pointed out. Just because they were statistically useless cucks on average doesn't mean I'm calling you a useless cuck if you are gen X. There's plenty of decent gen X guys, they just have to pass inspection before I risk giving them credit.
As for what they should have done. Not rolled over at the first sign of resistance would have been a good start for most of them. Voting is barely even a fraction of your personal agency. Hell even strictly in the sense of winning elections you can influence other people's voting perspectives, not just spend 5 seconds every few years marking an X and throwing your hands up when you don't get what you want. Voting is downstream of culture, and culture is a free for all that most conservative inclined Gen-Xers ran away from screaming the first time someone got in their faces. Yeah you were outnumbered, but history isn't full of people just tallying up numbers and declaring winners. It's full of smaller forces deciding they had something still worth fighting for and winning anyway. Numbers count, but so does resolve. Like those kids specials that say you can't be brave if you aren't scared, you can't be pussies if you're not scared either. The left challenged genX cons to a scary culture war and most backed down like pussies until some even more outnumbered millennials and Gen Z kids took the vanguard instead.
