Reddit has gotten so bad. It’s an echo chamber on everything not just politics. I made the mistake of posting something last year in one of the very few times I visited. Not political in the slightest but a different than the popular opinion. Not rude, just some polite logic. Myself and the one other who responded with “oh yeah what you’re saying makes sense” got railed and downvoted to the point I hit some sort of auto ban threshold.
They are only going to make themselves worse. You can already only parrot the consensus opinion there as it is.
Yeah, I have a burner account I can't use because it doesn't have the "required karma" to participate in basically every subreddit. You make one controversial comment and you're effectively shadowbanned.
They're in such a bubble that they literally cannot perceive reality. Then something like the 2024 election happens and they have a total meltdown because they just can't understand how it happened.
There was a post on r/askmen back in like 2015 that was titled something like "what is your true unpopular opinion?". Every single one of the comments except for one was an opinion that was safe, popular, and lined up with redditor beliefs.
That one opinion that differed was this: "I don't believe women are capable of actually loving a man" followed by some anecdote and a few stats. The guy that posted it was, to reiterate, the only person to actually follow the directions of the post.
That guy not only got like, I think 1200 downvotes, but had a bunch of soyboys telling him to commit suicide, all because of his opinion, which he even stated in his comment was just that, an opinion, not a measurable fact.
This was back in 2015, before Correct The Record took over the site. It has only gotten worse.
Edit: I found the post but the comment was deleted. There was exactly one archive on the wayback machine but it was after the comment got deleted.
I stopped posting on KIA2 itself on reddit when I posted something slightly against the prevailing narrative of the thread, and just got dozens of people repeating the same wrong but buzzword laden comment at me. All of which you could tell they got from their favorite youtube video influencer.
So its not even Leftism itself, its just people on reddit in general.
The only reason Reddit is still relevant is the artificial boost from adding "reddit" to the end of a search query being the only remaining way to find human discussion of a topic.
Somehow Reddit managed to get even more insane than after Trump won in 2016.
Trump's first day in office shattered their minds.
That most Americans are happy with what Leftists deem the most unforgivable of Trump's policies ( shutting the border, deportations, no more troon insanity ), is making them go turbo retard.
Control of social media platforms such as Twitter was part of Democrats plan to secure power and control so that 2016 could never happen again. But then Democrats interfered with Musk's buisness and pissed him of, and he bought Twitter and fucked-up their insider privileges in the platform with the Deep State.
So they are lashing out at Twitter. Musk's ''my heart goes to all of you'' chest and arm salute is just a focus point for attacking Twitter.
I firmly believe that was what he was doing. They however do not understand that even if he was doing a Roman salute, a very good percentage of people do. not. give. a. shit.

I still firmly believe it is because of the popular vote win that that happened. In 2016, they could at least tell themselves that Trump supporters were a minority, he only won because of the Electoral College, they would crush this weird fluke of a win and be on the path to their progressive future, etc. This was then further reinforced by 2020 and them gaining ultimate power, which they then proceeded to have a government that did everything they ever could have wanted.
Then 2024 happens, Trump wins the popular vote, gains in damn near every demographic, and based on polling even after the election shows Trump and his beliefs only getting more popular, even with young people.
So they see everything they have ever believed going up in smoke, their heads ripped out of the sand to see the real world for what it is, and that they are actually the ones who were the fluke. So they resort to the only thing they can: impotently raging at anything and everything they can see.
I think it will hurt reddit a lot more than it will hurt x. Reddit will become even more insular and weird.

Bluesky is that way too.
bluesky is twitter, but with Redditards.
Don't forget musk and his very real nazi salute that's not hallucinatory at all.

Sort by controversial to find the real unpopular opinions.

Even the fucking AI just references reddit comments.
They're really trying to make Reddit too big to fail while Reddit jannies are doing everything they possibly can to destroy it at the same time.
What it means in reality is reddit will become a bunch of twitter screenshots.
