It always awes me to see what's left of Washington's ragged army cross the Delaware freezing, starving, even dying along the way into another bitter winter skirmish when they could have just went home. I'm convinced it was divine providence and a willpower that we only very rarely see today that enabled the patriots to succeed.

Happy Fourth guys, time for an awesome afternoon of grilling and baseball, followed by four nights of neighbors shooting off fireworks that's gonna drive my pets bonkers.
Earlier in the week the local HOA (big block of them are right next to where I am) sent them a letter to all their buildings saying they will be fining people for shooting fireworks on the 4th and they will be checking properties on the evening of the 4th and the morning of the 5th, so they all noticed the loophole and blasted that shit all last night.
Honestly, I was surprised no one popped off last night, years past doesn't matter what day the 4th fell on, come midnight someone is shooting fireworks. Last year it was friday to tuesday with iirc a night off due to rain.
This year, not just my street, it was quiet in the entire area all week.

My town has now banned fireworks and posted signs everywhere notifying everybody that they are banned. That's bad enough.
But I also see assholes who have, voluntarily, put those same signs IN THEIR OWN YARDS.

It's a tough economy, his neighbors probably couldn't afford 10 days worth of mortars.
I had to go to work today on something. Every Englishman I saw I wished a happy fourth.
