Multiple stages of self selection made KiA2 on .win a more generalized political forum. It became impossible to talk about wider political topics on half-KiA and difficult due to reddit rules on KiA2 there.
It was sort of inevitable. The deeper you dig the more you find unpalatable truths. Many of those truths are too much for people to stomach, whether that be too much for reddit mods or for genuine GGers.
The split to KiA2 was made when we arrived at the realization that the Left was an enemy through and through. Many default liberals couldn't stomach the blow to their own sense of identity and there was a perpetual push to go "no, they're off the deep end but we're the sane 'classical liberals'".
In r/Kia2 we started to unearth stuff that's straight up taboo to even speak about, the most egregious example being the noticing of prominent jewish influences backing many of the movements infecting both gaming and our societies as a whole. Certainly can't discuss that on reddit, so now we're over here because you get straight up banned for wrongthink over on reddit. We're still butting up against walls here, but at least the bannings are less frequent.
In my mind this is all still just one big journey that still revolves around video games, it's just that we're at the stage where we've figured out the identities of some of the villains and now opposing them has taken center stage. To make a crass analogy, video games are the Shire while western society is the whole of Middle Earth. We set out to protect the one but in our quest we've had to take on the task of defending so much more.

A shitposter is never late, nor is he early. He responds precisely when he means to.
Jokes aside, if you had told me that lurking KiA then KiA2 all those years ago would lead me here, I would have laughed until I couldn't breathe. It has been a real journey.
Still can't believe we just wanted honest video game reviews and ended up discovering a worldwide pedophile occult blackmail ring run by intelligence agencies with interesting genetic makeups by accident.
I saw the corruption in other stuff in the culture a long time before video games. Maybe it was just because video games didn't really have room to engage in a lot of cultural manipulation. Or because they basically came from Japan. I was onto the JQ from the political realm before I came to KiA2.win . But I have always had an interest in video games and politics, so this iteration of the forum suits me.
You could say I came from consumeproduct, as a consequence of being on the same platform and as a consequence of consumeproduct itself declining. Making fun of consoomers is funny. The politics of that place gets repetitive. There are more viewpoints here.
It's kinda like how in the beginning of an RPG you're saving a small town. Then by the middle youre fighting kingdoms and at the end it's a god. Video games were our starting town

I've also always considered the sorting process to be the way that they absolve themselves of the sin of going against the narrative. They're in a group that's under attack for being racist/sexist/whatever, which has nothing to do with what the group is about, but if they resist talking about some other more taboo subject that touches on those things and force it out of the group, they can point to the ones they expelled and say, "hey, those were the racists/sexists all along. I'm still one of the good guys."
Though they'll never be the "good guys" because there are no "good guys" according to the narrative. Only bad guys: ones who admit that they're bad guys ones that don't.

We thought we were just gathering some crystals for the good of the planet, but now we're on our way to the moon to fight Zemus.
I caught a ban for suggesting that if New York State started shelling New York City like Ukraine had been doing to its areas with ethnic Russian populations, that it might be a bad thing.

That's half-KiA's fault, not ours, anyway. I hate to sound all "everything is political," but GG was always a culture war, and it was always "political." Half-KiA cut out and censored a bunch of elements and content the original users (including me, I've been there since the beginning) were interested in talking about. The mods there caused the rift, not the users.
The "only talk about video games" was never the "true GamerGamer" gate. It went beyond that from the beginning. Mods got their panties in a bunch and nuked themselves.
Also, half-KiA is lame and gay now, why would I go there anymore? How is the failure precursor to our current forum, on a censorious site that we fled from, some sort of purity test we should take seriously?
We left half-KiA for a reason. We left Reddit for a reason. No, I don't go back there.
It obviously went beyond that, or #NotYourShield (aka 'look at me, I'm not a straight white male Nazi') wouldn't have taken off like it did. GG was always culture wars.
I stopped even going to reddit KIA2 when it just became the same circlejerking outrage bait and Youtube Grifters being spammed with an 11 minute video for a Two Sentence story I read about on another site a week ago.
For all its faults, KIA1 is still a pretty bustling place. I doubt its much more than an echo chamber repeating the same talking points in every comment, but there is news about video games and "discussion."
KIA2 on reddit has been dying a slow death for a long time. I think the slow drain of most of us coming here set it on a death path it never recovered from.
Half-KIA is fine as basically a news aggregator. When they try to discuss anything approaching politics, it's awful. They still do the "we don't hate diversity. Let's talk about diversity done right" virtue signaling.

Because the mods made it practically illegal years ago, so anyone even mildly interested in talking such things was driven out long, long ago. They're retarded, in the literal sense; they weren't allowed to grow.
It's a mixed bag. You get othered by Reddit for whatever reason you come here.
Still primarily a Gamergate space but the conversation here is more open so people can say how they feel and their arguments sink or swim like they used to do on the Internet before idiots started putting upvotes and bots onto everything to guide people into whatever it is that they do.
It can get annoying at times but that's what comes at the price of truly being free.
I miss PHP bulletin board forums where you just had to sequentially yell at each other in a good old fashioned flame war. Now things just get downvoted and hidden and no one ever has to hear an opposing viewpoint.
My 12 year old reddit accout didn't have an email address associated with it. This was no problem until reddit went public. I recently got a message about suspicious activity on my account, so it was permanently banned until I reset my password. Wouldn't you know it - the only way to reset my password is to add an email address, so they can send me a reset link. So, I don't have a reddit account anymore.
Lyra833 emerged out of hiatus during the Sweet Baby Inc, "GamerGate 2.0" incident to dispense his/her classic hot takes, which is why I bother to pay attention to Reddit at all nowadays.

Agreed, I started 2014 as a center right libertarian. Now I'm here.
The ride never ends.

The "I just wanted to play video games" Pepe is distressingly accurate.

Haven't been back since.
...
Would it though?
I was trying to be Reddit-friendly.

I don't get the argument here.
It would be ridiculous to look at an invasion of female SJWs into the gaming space outside of the context of the culture war that caused it.

The KIA2 subreddit is basically half-KiA with a periodic pro-Trump or pro-Israel (lol) submission and a fraction of the activity.
For all its faults, KIA1 is still a pretty bustling place. I doubt its much more than an echo chamber repeating the same talking points in every comment, but there is news about video games and "discussion."

Yep, mods will remove anything good there.

What would still be considered true or official GG content these days?
Adapt or die.
I never even once went back

The only reason why I haven't written a GamerGate "Victories in 2023" post is because I'm persuading no-one.
On reddit, it gets seen by people who disagree with me. Here... not so much.

Gamergate was at its core about noticing sleazy manipulation of the press. It was destined to go the way it has since the start.
This whole forum doesn't exist if it wasn't for a single invincible shithead Reddit moderator years ago.
I sure don't
