I would disagree. There has been no movement towards show production since....December 2022? I think Cavill announced in December 2023 something to the tune of, "Okay this time for real a deal has been signed". Yeah the writer's strike put things on hold for several months but now it's 16 months since the initial announcement and I'm not asking why a show isn't out yet, I'm asking why there has been zero progress and no one else has signed on and the IMDB page is a barren stem. Because normally this stuff gets gradually filled in. It's bizarre that it's still blank.

40k player here. No GW didn't do this to align with Amazon. They aren't competent enough to do that. They can barely keep lore and rules straight between codexes that come out weeks from each other, so they have no hope of aligning with an entirely different company,
I doubt it. Any TV show or movie is going to be about the Space Marines (because they're the mascots of the entire franchise) or the baseline humans (because they're easier to write and film). The Custodes are irrelevant. If Amazon was making demands and GW wanted to placate them, they could just offer up any one of the already mixed units like the Tanith First and Only or any given Inquisitorial retinue.
I'd argue it was more the slow knife of Blackrock investment that did this more than Amazon.
