Just hypothesizing here, total speculation.

It's certainly possible, but the locusts have been after 40K for ages, too. Also, it's not like Amazon (or any Modern Audiences nonsense) is beholden to or respects the lore anyway.
Who knows what the exact contact is, but I doubt Games Workshop gets much say in what Amazon does. On the other hand, GW has generally had pretty tight control on things, too, so maybe their contract did have some lore-respecting clause. So who knows, it's basically a coin flip. GW and the locusts have wanted this for a while, they've just finally done it.
Normally, I'd agree, but in this case Henry Cavil is deeply involved and, as you probably know, has some love and respect for the source material. This actually made me wonder if part of this might be an attempt to sabotage what he's doing over there.
Huh, interesting point.
Also sadly ironic, and very Current Year; try to force the person who actually cares about your established lore, to not be able to defend your established lore, by changing your established lore. This does allow Amazon to point to GW and tell Cavill that, 'achtually, there have always been female Custodes, get the fuck in line.'
Man, that would be a punch in the gut, if Cavill had made an ironclad contract, that hinged on respecting established lore, and then GW went and switched up the "established" lore on him. A truly Shakespearean tragedy.
I still have a bit of hope considering Cavill is involved. He was passionate about the Witcher and chose to leave due to them butchering it
Cavill is one of the few actors I (until proven otherwise) respect. He seems like a really good dude.
Zachary Levi also seems solid.
Damn, that's exactly the sort of bitchweasel move these vermin would play.
