Cute has become a pejorative in libspeak. It implies femininity, which is inherently empowering but also weak, and we cannot have something feminine and weak impeding empowerment, thus cute is bad.

Had a friend's wife pull that on me, I showed her the stats showing women were the safest of all groups (more than children!) and she said none of that mattered because "that's not how it felt to her."

Didn't that figure come from a university campus questionnaire which bundled lesser actions into "sexual assault" in addition to the response bias.
