I'm curious about what kind of country music people here listen to. I'm a newcomer to the genre, having only started enjoying it during Covid. Anything that's older or from known conservative artists is a bonus, but I'm interested in anything you guys listen to.

Finally some good Christian songs to play at my church
David Allen Coe... the only good yankee
Pretty much anything before 1984. The older and more cowboy, the better.
But I get a real kick out of David Allan Coe.
Can't stand the modern "New Country pap that just sounds like pop music with a steel guitar.
The Gambler and Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers is the only songs I've heard that are that old. I like them, and it's a shame my country radio station doesn't play songs more than 10 or 20 years old. Even some 90s stuff would be nice.
Hank Williams Sr, Gene Autrey, Eddie Albert was a good cowboy yodeler (yes, the dude from Green Acres). Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson On the Road Again, and for sure Waylon Jennings. Dolly Parton, Reba Mackentyre, Loretta Lynn the Coalminer's Daughter.
If they play none of these, they have no business calling themselves a "country" station.
Fair enough. I freely admit that 80% of what they play is shit, but that's still better than the only other stations I listen to which are 90% shit. Everything else is 100% shit. I just want something to listen to in the car and there aren't many good options.
mannnn fuck dolly parton.. loretta lynn should not be mentioned in the same paragraph as that twat
I was drunk when my mama got out of prison.
Wastin' away in Marijuanaville ...
Johnny Cash for me probably. Otherwise my taste is pretty old school mainstream, George Strait, Hank Williams, and the like. I've never really been in to country though so take it with a grain of salt. All the new stuff that is essentially the most poppy of pop music with beer and pickup truck substituted in the lyrics is gross.
As others have said, outlaw country. Johnny Cash for the win. And yeah, country turned to shit in the 00s. Just wigger music now and pop music pretending to be country. There are some good indie bands now, for rock too, but I don't listen to much music anymore aside from religious stuff, Sabaton and Lofi off of YouTube.
Outlaw country has always been my favorite. The classic stuff like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Chris Kristofferson. It's making a comeback right now in a big way, with guys like Bryan Martin, Warren Zeiders, Colt Graves and Jackson Dean.
Story songs have always been a good subgenre as well of country and American folk. Darrell Scott, Michael Ray and the Turnpike Troubadours are all good examples.
Johnny Cash (favorites being One Piece At A Time, Boy Named Sue)
Hank Williams III (favorites being Dick In Dixie, Trooper)
Some lyrics from Dick In Dixie for your enjoyment:
Ain't no way not a single asshoe in here recommended Colter Wall.
Definitely give him a try. Sturgill Simpson as well.
It's more bluegrass but check out Steel Drivers and Matt Heckler .
Love Steel Drivers. Nice to find good new bluegrass. Bill Monroe is my all time favorite for bluegrass
A lot of people turned to country music during the Wuhan epidemic, and more notably the 'Summer of Love', as they were absolutely disgusted by everything the left-liberal media complex stood for. It was a form of escapism from mainstream insanity.
That's why the race-grifter Beyonce 'suddenly' made a country album and bought up the nr. 1 place for her new single this year, to subvert the phenomenon.
The most popular country artist is at this moment 'Morgan Wallace', who funnily got in trouble in 2021 for the n-word and got effectively banned from the 'country establishment', but his fans didn't care and eventually the thirst bunnies followed suit, propelling his popularity to new heights.
Yeah I was reading about that, and that actually prompted this post. Some faggot was whining about the lack of dieversity in country music and accused some small radio station in Oklahoma of racism for not playing it because Beyonce is a pop star and they weren't aware of that album. I bet it's shit but I don't plan on confirming. I'm sure the retards running my local country radio station will play it though.
check out charley pride.. been black country musicians for a long time
My all time favorite country singer is Hank Williams Sr.
Other ones I could listen to over and over are: Johnny Cash Carter Family Jimmie Rodgers Merle Haggard Patsy Cline Charley Pride Hank Jr Waylon Jennings Loretta Lynn Willie Nelson Jim Reeves
If you want to get into bluegrass then Bill Monroe is a must
I don't listen to much country, but I like Travis Tritt. Modern day Bonnie and Clyde is a banger.
Carnival of Excess by GG Allin is a great album.

Townes Van Zand
John Hartford
Steve Earle
Hank Williams
The Band
George Jones
Johnny Cash
Kris Kristofferson
Patsy Cline
Merle Haggard
John Prine
Teskey Brothers.
They're good, but more blue grass.
Charley Crockett is really good. Surprised that he hasn't been mentioned already. https://youtu.be/Gilbzck_b5E?si=NGmHX7GjJSrU7I4q
Blue Saraceno Brothers Bright Barns Courtney
I really like Morgan Wallen.
My favorite song from him is Chasin' you.
Something about this song really speaks to me.
He is a newer artist with an older sound right?
Yeah he has that classic country sound while being a relatively young artist.
I know people who say they don't generally like country music but they like Morgan Wallen.
He is doing something right.
I don’t like the twang and the old school sounds other than John’s Cash. Billy Strings is my favorite bluegrass, for country I like a few newer artists that may not fit the genre. Tyler Childers Sturgill Simpson Zack Bryan Wyatt Flores Some Whiskey Myers, broken window serenade is a good one.
These are pretty popular names:
Zach Bryan - Something In The Orange
Chris Stapleton - You Should Probably Leave
Luke Combs - When It Rains It Pours
Less familiar:
Charles Wesley Godwin - All Again
I like Garth Brooks, but will freely acknowledge his pop-rock style paved the way for modern garbage.
Charlie Daniels is one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for fiddles. Really, anyone who has an actual band.
Chris LeDoux, though I've barely scratched his discography.
